Here are some things I did / used

1) Dice game. I made this last year. Works well in pairs but more students can work too. One student asks "What's wrong". The other rolls a die, answers the question and draws the corresponding body part if it hasn't already been drawn. First to complete the picture wins. It has some ailments not covered by the textbook (broken leg, toothache) but students have no problem understanding.
2) Board game: taken from another thread and adapted for this lesson.
3) Warmup activity: hidden picture warmup, also not made by me. 2/3 mins.
4) Group making activity with cards. Each student gets one card ("headache" etc). They must form teams by finding the other people with the same ailment as them. Be sure to emphasise that they are only allowed to use the relevant dialog ("What's wrong?" / "What's the problem?" ...), or they'll just run around shouting one word. Reward first team if you like and repeat if desired by telling students to swap cards with someone.
5) Chase the vocab game, also modified from another thread. I also added a sheet for them to record their answers in groups. Students really enjoyed this. Groups of four work well.
6) "What's missing from the sentence?": A writing game edited from a different thread.
7) Word Bingo. Well, they already know what to do but this saves the time of writing the phrases on the board.

For period 1, I have started from wesleymix's intro above, made some amendments and additions, and added on a "strip bingo" game.  Each student gats a "strip" of 9 ailments.  Teacher reads out sentences and students may cut the matching picture from their strip, but only if it is onone end or the other.  Full directions on PPT.  REMOVED

Period 2, toothache! A Mr Bean goes to the dentist activity, and what people do with their baby teeth in different cultures.  REMOVED

 Here's a YT link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60NSM_EHmuw

Period 3, I have a 'What's missing?" warm-up, and a "text maze" activity.  This is fun--it looks like a wordsearch, but the the words are all connected together in a maze.  REMOVED

Period 4, cold remedies around the world.  Students choose A, B or C.  Each choice will add or subtract a certain number of points.  They keep track of their score on a little scorecard (there are six per page on the handout).  It's pretty simple, but instructions are on the ppt.  REMOVED

Period 5, Sentence Surgery.  This is like blazing pens, but in addition to the sentence being scrambled, some of the words are meessed up too.  For instance, homophones: two for too, half hor have; misspellings, capitalization, etc REMOVED

I'm also attaching a "Place your bets" game I made, but won't use because it's similar to the cold remeedy activity.  REMOVED

Speaking virus game, or level up game as I call it with my kids.
Takes about 5 minutes to complete. Fun and gets them talking and reading!

Made a role play dialogue for period 4 since the "Let's Read" part is pretty lamesauce.

Some resources stolen and modified from a middle school lesson. Quite difficult but good for higher levels.

More worksheets.doc - I used pages 1 and 2 - self explanatory for page 1. On page 2 they use the dialogue example to ask what's wrong and what they think they should do. Feel free to modify dialogue to make it simpler.

Vocab ppt - The kids should love the monkey, and the 'cut' one will shock them!
Lesson ppt - extended version of the first one with 'you should' based advice. Bit more difficult this PPT but links to the W/sheets

One more if you've got a spare 8 mins. Mr Bean goes to the hospital. Kids love it!

It's sometimes on youtube, but the adverts can be inappropriate before videos (half naked girl drinking soju for my grade 3s... thanks Youtube!)

For period 1 we did
  • What can you see? on p80-81
  • New words and expressions (in the ppt)
  • Look and listen (Watch; What did you hear; Watch; Answer CCQs; Watch and read along/repeat
  • Connect four game

Connect Four is pretty self-explanatory, but just for the sake of it: draw a 6x6 grid and number it.  With the ppt, after explaining, just put up the image, let anyone from the team answer if you need to move it along quickly (then have the entire team repeat the answer), and let them pick a number.  It's a nice way to practice numbers beyond 1-10, as well, if you have the higher integers on the bottom rows of the grid.  Assign each team a chalk colour, and shade in their respective boxes with their respective colours as they win their squares.

I borrowed Makino's idea of using the Evolution (AKA Cockroach AKA Level-Up) game, but made the TPR a little more obvious by having the students mime the symptoms they're complaining about.  I revamped my favorite version of the instructions PPT for it (thanks original creator), and embedded it all within a sequence for period 2, with hidden pictures for a vocab review / warm-up.  Without the sequencing this could be used for period 3, 4, or later, too.  Make sure to change "Dr. Kimberly" to your name.  And in the practice / game sections, decide whether you want the speaking prompts (mostly pictures) or the reading prompts (all the words) slide.  Finally, protip, I stuck a CD backwards on a headband and wore it, then let it pass to the first student to defeat me, and so on.  Lame AF but the students LOVED it.  We played this for almost 15 minutes as a production activity, and most students were still having fun.

For period 3, we're playing Go Fish.  I taught my students that "too bad" said with a certain intonation expresses dismissal, not concern, so they'll get to practice that here when they reject a request.  Pictures are taken from Mr. C's work above - thanks, Mr. C!  They're good pictures and printer friendly, but not diverse at all; sorry about that.  They include some extensions - earache, bloody nose, etc.  The game could be played without those; just reduce the cards in each hand to 4.  Actually all the numbers involved in this game are flexible, so adapt for your group size and config~!  Thanks original creator for this nice rules PPT that I spiffed up a bit.

I used the worksheets given in this thread to use the vocabulary for the 4 corners game. I didn't make the template I just re-use them. I thought this would be a fun review or warm-up for the kids. We will go over the words and they should tell me the Korean until the end when I switched it up and they have to tell me the English. The very last slide has my name and school on it so you should change it to whatever you like. :]

I made a board game for this lesson that uses the cards on page 273. Have students play in groups and combine their cards for the deck. The ppt includes a chase the vocab warm-up that I borrowed from another user. Instructions for the board game are on the ppt as well.

For period 5 / writing, I loved Mr. C's "sentence surgery" idea, but speed writing games frustrate my students.  So I made a "clinical rotations" (AKA writing stations) activity with two types of surgery: cosmetic and accident victims.  I also printed an edit of his Lucy sentence maze on the back of the worksheets, but we didn't have time for it.  Thanks Mr. C!!!

For period 6 / project, we made fortune tellers to give medical advice to each other.  I showed the students the shaman pictures and explained that people in history and many modern cultures go to fortune tellers and shamans for both advice and wishes related to health.  We used the grids in the book to brainstorm, then filled in both good and "crazy" advice (eat kimchi, etc.) inside the fortune tellers.  Students mingled and tried to get the most signatures in their books.  After picking an ailment, I had students work the fortune tellers according to the syllables: I-have-a-sto-mach-ache.  We had a few laughs when "I have a sore throat" resulted in "get surgery" and so on.

My students love doing rebuses after I introduced them last year.

Here is a new set I made with key expressions from the chapter.  You can switch out the page number graphic on the last slide depending on which period you use it with.
