Vid for past tense practice:

Did you have a nice weekend?

"Did you have a nice weekend?/What did you do?/ I went-played-listened-watched (home, zoo, concert, park, movie, baseball, football)/How about you?/Yes I did./No."

For first or second lesson, a pass the ball game followed by 'line bingo.' Instructions are in the powerpoint.

For the line bingo game I entered the words into 'Random Student Selector' on barryfunenglish.com If you don't have a barryfun account, just call out the words randomly.

This is an intro ppt about Colonel Sanders for section one.

We wanted to introduce someone from history to start off the first section. I wanted someone who would be recognizable to the kids and whose life I wouldn't feel too bad about boiling down into a 5 minute powerpoint. I figured the kids knew all about most major figures so I skipped Einstein, Newton, Armstrong, Edison, etc. Also, condensing some of history's greatest moments (moon landing, discovery of gravity, etc) seemed to cheapen them a bit so I aimed a bit lower.

Most of the kids know the "KFC Grandpa" so I thought he would be a fun intro.

The powerpoint is geared to focus on past tense verbs, and those have all been underlined. I'm not going to bring their attention to that until the end. I'll ask them what the underlined words are and give candy to whoever answers.

I also glossed over negative aspects of the fast food industry so if you want to talk about animal cruelty or deforestation have at it. I did briefly touch on how he distanced himself from the franchise later in life.

Grade 6 Lesson 11 Who Drew This Picture?

I used the following 3 ppts for my 6th grade classes - Lesson 1, 2, and 5/6.  Thanks to all the original posters for the vocab, key expressions, Simon's Cat stuff and ideas.

I added instructions for Pyramid Game, a snakes and ladders game, amended the worksheet for Simon's Cat to include the past verb drill and changed the Jeopardy game to be more accurate to the language in Lesson 11.

G6L11P1 Introduction, Text Book, Pyramid Game
G6L11P2 Snakes and Ladders game (groups of 4)
G6L11P5 Simon's Cat and Jeopardy (all groups answer all questions on whiteboards)

Enjoy!

6-11 Angry Bird Uno

I am very familiar with UNO and have seen adaptations of the game to fit many different chapters, but this stumped me. Would you be so kind as to explain, please?

I understand that in traditional UNO you can either play to the color or the number. In your case the color is represented by the birds and the number by the question and answer part. And that is where I am lost cause now you introduce a third variable. Lost.

I made a very simple Jeopardy Game.

I have a class of 30, so to give them each a fair chance I created 8 categories with 3 options each (easy, medium, hard).

Students group in groups of 4 and select which verb category they answer questions about.

*Fixed one or two issues. Aplogies for the rookiness of my Jeopardy.

cool but you have a few errors.  Kakaotalk was invented by King Sejeong?  2014 Olympics were hosted in England? Are you sure??

So Cheonjae books just gonna pretend like white men are the world's only inventors huh? I see you Cheonjae.

This is an excellent opportunity to let our students know minorities and women have made huge contributions to our world. http://www.buzzfeed.com/hannahjewell/inventions-by-women-that-changed-the-world#.agXA3mPy35

Hi all, I made a Who Did It? PPT quiz, just some general knowledge questions that match the textbook and more. The kids really got into it, liked showing off their knowledge. Download for free here: http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2015/10/who-did-it-lesson-11-who-drew-this.html

Also, for the check up and We are the world part, I did a PPT on inventions as the world part is all about inventions - kids enjoyed it, found it interesting. free free free http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2015/11/who-drew-this-picture-invention-themed.html

Happy Teaching

Listening game for period 1. Each student gets game board from slide 5. They make ten circles anywhere. To start the game teacher holds up one of the pics from slide 6. All students respond together "Who ______?" according to the picture. Then teacher responds with one of the names and students X that spot off their game board. First student to cross out all ten of their circles wins.
