1) Some dialogue practice with Korean included. Perfect for those who teach alone. I used it to play "Dialogue Bingo" with the cards on page 261, but you can use it as a 3 min intro/review instead if you want.

2) 4 corners / telepathy type game. I'm making students write the sentence of their choice, but you could play it as a move-around reading game.

Reposting keepemgreen's spongebob board game from an older version of the book.  I updated some of the spaces so they can fit better with the phrases used in this version of the book.

Here are my materials:

-1practice.ppt: practice with key expressions inclusing a vanishing pictures game and a hidden pictures game.  REMOVED
-2warm.ppt: a scrambled words and sentences game I made, with apples in a tree for the letters and falling snowflakes in the word round.REMOVED
-3rebus.ppt: two rounds of sentences to use as a warm-up. REMOVED
-bets.ppt (with the HO.doc) in which students wager on whether a sentence and image match and are correct. Very popular.  REMOVED I'm going to let them choose whether to do this or play Sentence Relay:
-3relay.ppt (with HO.doc) is quite similar to running dictation.  Differences: teams of four send one one runner in each round, and complete three writing papers with the same sentences; also, the sentences are in these word cloud images that are in meaningful shapes, like "Because I can see many beautiful flowers." is shaped like a flower .... There are six sentences. REMOVED
-4warm-twisters.ppt: there are four tongue-twisters on seasonal themes.  REMOVED
-4frozengame.ppt: this is a quiz / bomb game whose theme of the Disney Frozen I took from rocketeerjoe and extensively updated; of the course the questions are from this lesson.  REMOVED
-5because.ppt: Not sure where this originated, but it's a writing activity that's rather open-ended.  Teams will havee a sentence starter like "I like spring" then they have to finish it with "because blah-blah ..."  They strive both for correctness and uniqueness.  If you have the same sentence as another team, no points.  A sentence just like one from the book, one point.  Two points if your sentence is unique and correct. REMOVED

More materials:

-1songs.ppt:  As an introduction to the lesson, I made a ppt with a 30 sec. to one min. snip from some songs about seasons, with lyrics and images.  These could be used to list "things about each season" ...
-2pass.ppt: I made a pass the ball game with all new pictures, and put on (different) songs about the seasons.

For both, I'm including all the sounds and vid, in case they don't automaticaslly embed in your version of ppt.

Reading game.
All students stand up.
Each student reads one word. The one who gets "sparkle" shoots the word at the next student in line to speak and that person is out. Last few standing win.

Made the coin flick game. Students use the images to keep their score by crossing the image off. Can print that 4x on one page.
Telepathy game is the same as earlier, but I added some images to it.
What Season am I is just Frankensteined from others' materials. Good for intro or review.

1. Pass The Bomb - speaking game

Students say the same phrase and keep passing the "bomb" until it explodes. The student who is holding the bomb when it explodes loses 1 point for their team. Every team starts with 5 points.

2. Sleeping Elephants - writing game

5 students per team.
Elephant #4 is for the low-level students.

*templates are not mine~ just edited for this lesson

Hi Teachers~!  ;D

I'm using the song "If You Need to Know the Seasons" in Period 3 instead of Sing Sing.
I've also made a worksheet with the lyrics with a code breaker. The video has all the lyrics, so students can watch and fill in the missing letters and then break the code at the bottom of the page (it's incredibly easy [answer is 'season'] - just something in case your students don't like singing).  I used this song last year with a different textbook and it was a huge success! I hope your students enjoy it too ^_^

You can find the video here:

Lyrics are attached below.

Minecraft bomb game. I am not the original creator of this template, it's pretty cool though.

I borrowed some images and questions from other ppts on this thread.

It was getting a bit repetitive, so I had my students came up with new reasons why they liked or didn't like seasons. So, I added those in as questions, too. I have about four of those in here so you may want to change those slides to something else.  (I like winter because I can drink hot chocolate/I don't like spring because I have allergies, etc.)

Pass the Bomb Game -- good for speaking/reading practice.

Got the template from someone else (thanks!), but edited it for this lesson.

Like Pass the Ball, but instead of the student speaking when the bomb goes off, every student that gets the bomb must speak. If it goes off in a student's hand, their team loses a point. Each team starts off with 5 points (or however many you want).

I used this game for speaking, so I told my students what the sentence was before it came on the screen. I practiced with them a few times before I started the bomb. This game was super successful and the kids got really into it, especially my students that never participate. I was really surprised and proud of them. It's really funny when they speak slowly on purpose to try and make another team lose a point, then it ends up blowing up on them! Lots of fun. Thanks to whoever made this :)

Here's a reading activity with a little writing.  There are eight dialogues to print out and put around the room.  The students will read the dialogues to find out who likes what season and why.  There is a table that you can print out to have them fill it in or you can have them write their answers in their notebooks.  There's also an answer key for the tables.

We actually ended up playing yunnori as a class. put the big flashcards on the board and made a big yunnori board, but a few less spaces for sake of time.
