Christmas Songs

I teach at an all Girls middle school. The song may be a big to fast for the younger students but the 3rd graders can handle it. Probably good for High school students as well.
I made the ppt to go with the worksheet I found online somewhere.

Hi Everyone!!
Merry Christmas!
Here are a few gap fills for Christmas songs! My students (all girls) really like Mariah Carey and her version of Santa Claus is coming to town. I also included a version of "We Wish you a Merry Christmas."
Have fun!! :D

12 Days of Christmas...ReMIX

Hopefully I am posting this correctly....
Here is an idea for a lesson that I thought up for my students. Something a little different and fun after their exams... The PPT is attached.
I will have students view the PPT and listen to the song
12 Days of Christmas
(this version is very old school, but it has pictures and words). After they view it, in small groups, I will have them recreate their own version of the song.

Hey, just saw this a few minutes ago and thought you might be able to tie it in somehow. If not, it's still a pretty cool version of the song.

Awesome idea! Thanks! I think I might have to bring in the camera, and make a competition out of it. That'd be awesome! Thanks guys

Wasn't sure where to post these, but I guess I'll build onto this Christmas Songs post then!
I have a lot of extra classes, so I made two power points and a lyric sheet for "White Christmas" and "Silver Bells". We'll practice reading the lyrics and vocab, and then practice them for the next couple of weeks. Each are both easy to play on guitar as well, if that's your cup of tea. I played Christmas songs on guitar last year and the kids really appreciated it. (Elementary school, btw).

Not 100% sure that this song is appropriate for school, but I liked it at that age, and I still like it now, so I'm doing it anyways.
Nothing special, just a bare bones song lesson. If anybody has anything amazing to add to it, I would gladly steal it from you. Thanks!~
This video somebody made on youtube works really well too- unfortunately it has a picture of a baby drinking a beer towards the end, but I figure it is no big deal. The last page links to the video, but what I usually do is cut and paste the video into keep-tube.com (only works on IE). You need to download a codec for the sound to work on gom player, so what I do is keep the codec on my usb so I can quickly install it in each classroom when I get there.

This is a simple skit/song I put together for my younger students. (I also wanted to play with my green screen) My kids liked it, maybe yours will too.
Cheers

Great idea! Here's a worksheet that I made for the students to fill out while they listen to the original song, then make their own.

Excellent idea! I wonder if this would be too hard for my 6th grade elementary...I'll try it out.

This is Doris Day's version of "Silver Bells" to an enhanced version of Monroem's PPT. It is autotimed, so simply hit F5 and relax.

Here is Gene Autry singing "Here Comes Santa Claus" with the lyrics appearing in large face type and with pictures to correspond to the meaning. Wait a moment, and the song will begin and the slides automatically flip through. The picture at the beginning of the show has no music; I usually ask my students "Who is that?" (Santa Claus) "Where is he standing?" (By the door). "That's, right, Santa Claus is going to come in. Here Comes Santa Claus." I think this is good for all grades.

This is my ppt for "We Wish You A Merry Christmas". The lyrics are the same as the "Santa Buddies" version.
My sixth graders, at least, were Way To Cool to sing along, but the other grades enjoyed it.

Here is "Santa Claus is Coming to Town". If you find the timing of the slides, which are supposed to shift in time with changes in the lyrics and music, are a bit off, you can re-adjust them either with the arrow keys or by clicking "Rehearse Timings" in MS PPT. The audio track can also be removed and the slides used for reading practice or singing a capella.
