Textbook Dialogue Speaking Activities
« on: November 03, 2016, 04:46:35 PM »
Hi Guys,

I wanted to know if anyone has any ideas of how to practice the dialogues in the elementary textbooks. My Co T is also asking me to come up with different interesting ways to get them to practice.

I know of a few such as find the fruit or the monkey-where they must say the word or sentence and it reveal the monkey or fruit- or showing them pictures and eliciting the sentence from them. I have also given them words to make sentences and telepathy games.

However I am looking for more activities. My co T doesn't really like find the monkey or fruit or telepathy as much as they are games however at this point I am desperate for any ideas and will work with them from there.

Thanks in advance :-)

-This website has a random name picker wheel.  Fill in the students' names on the wheel.  That would single out two students to do a dialogue. http://www.classtools.net/random-name-picker/

-Make props or masks or something to get the kids interested in the dialogues as a part of a role play or story. Or use sock puppets.

-Have students flick a paperclip around a pencil (so the clip spins around the pencil as its axis) to randomly choose what words they use in a dialogue.

-Find a video clip from a movie or TV show and mute it.  Try to get the kids to match up the dialogue from the textbook with what the characters are saying on the video.

I also would welcome some more ideas on this topic!
