Board Game Template Suggestions
« on: December 05, 2016, 03:26:37 PM »
I have been working on several game concepts but would like to have your input as to how I should have these created, how they would be used. I have created a working template that plays similarly to Monopoly. The pieces move around the board, collect/lose cash, and draw chance cards which can do the same.

So, my questions to you all is, what would you like to see on each of the squares? How would you like to see the game be played? How would you use this type of PowerPoint?

Let me know, comment below!

I'm a big fan of your previous games, and this one looks really fun as well. There are probably many possibilities for this, but there are two that stand out in my mind.

1. You could make it for a directions type of unit where students have to learn the names of a bunch of places like library, movie theater, school, so forth.

2. You could make it like Monopoly, but instead of different colors, use countries. Then you could put 3 landmarks of each country in the spaces.

Literally anything that can be grouped would be great for this game. For food you could do fruits, veggies, meats, so forth. But I think locations probably make the most sense.

I hope that helps :D

Just to let you know, the link to the photo is broken.

Also, I'm not 100% sure what it is that you're asking.
If you want some theme suggestions, I would go with something that both elementary and middle school kids can dig.
Maybe a Pokemon theme, or a Marvel superhero theme, or even one based on one of the more popular games (Overwatch, LoL, Maplestory would be easiest).
Ideally, I would want the game played by up to 6 people (as I have up so 30 kids in my class).

I would have 2 copies of it, and each player would actually be a team of 2.

I would have all the cards be vocabulary related questions that the students would need to correctly answer before activating effects. Likewise they would have to repeat target vocabulary before each dice throw.

The game would be used at the end of the semester as a review activity after the exams have been finished.

Also, I find that sizing the board so that it can be printed on 2 A3 papers, laminated, then taped together works best, size wise!

Hope to see the results soon!

Thank you both for your suggestions. It does give me a couple of ideas how to further develop this game template.

What I'm looking for is how to have this game set up? I'd like to keep it generic so that you can customize it however you'd like and apply your own theme and such, but yet be playable on it's own without any further customization.

Also, I have updated the picture so it should be visible now.
