So last year I found a game that was mostly 2015 songs and used the English lines that are already in kpop as the hints. I find my kids don't do well with games where the Korean is translated into English and they have to try and guess it... This would be good for middle school or 5th and 6th grade elementary.

Google drive link:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4KVFodkYRTsRWJJMDFpb2NJQVU

It's pretty self explanatory to play. You'll need to download quicktime to play the videos. all of the songs are from 2016.

30 songs
  • 5 Girl Group songs
  • 5 Boy Group songs
  • 5 HipHop/R&B songs
  • 5 Foreign songs (not 2016 but whatever was top of the melon charts for 2016)
  • 5 Koreans artists working with American producers for the 'international' market (I really didnt know what to call this category, but it's Koreans singing in English....)
  • 5 more Boy Group songs

Theres an answer key/cheat sheet in the google drive folder, so if you're feeling generous when the kids beg for a hint you can give them a clue or two.

Yep and I thought you all got evaluated on how much foreign culture you introduce to the kids.

What can I say, I was just so inspired by the 5 page discourse on naming 'kpop vs apop vs pop vs who even cares' on the first game the other week.

Someone tell my coteachers im supposed to introduce these kids to foreign culture via lessons, I'd kill to do more work that isn't straight from the textbook. I probably won't even get to play this game I made with most of my classes...

I noticed that some Korean students tend to be more culturally insular  than western students.  If it's not part of their culture...they really don't care.  Thankfully...it's a minority.  Example:  I did a US penpal program with a co-teacher at my school.  There were students that actually tried to get out of it for the reason that they didn't know anything about the US.  Ironically enough, the US students were all super interested in the penpal program.

Very nice PPT. However, I thought some of the videos and lyrics were very inappropriate (e.g. gun violence in the Bonnie & Clyde video, skimpy outfits in Jessie J and Ariana's video, and CL Lifted lyrics). How do you show material like this to your students?

Mostly we press play and make sure the volume is up

Seriously show me a kpop video where they dont have skimpy outfits (IOI, AOA,  Twice) or Guns (Exo, Shinee, BAP, Mblaq)  or inappropriate lyrics ( Taemin PRESS YOUR NUMBER / DRIP DROP DROP, Sistar  touch my body). This isnt showing them anything they dont watch and or see on tv on a usual basis.

Jessie J is wearing a lace bralette in the music video. How is showing that to your students remotely okay? Just because students may see/hear something inappropriate doesn't mean you should be showing that to them. You are a teacher and a rode model. Get a clue.

A lace bralette oh my stars and glory. You would think theyve never seen someone wear something like that despite them watching tv and using computers to watch kpop. You can get a clue and maybe take a chill pill dude. Stand by what i originally said. Its a 30 second clip that isnt different from normal kpop videos oh wait, Jessie j isnt a 15 year old in this type of outfit shes of age. My bad. Also if you have such a problem with this you could just do the easy thing and not download the game :D problem solved.

Such hostility. Just go and make your own powerpoint... seriously! Can't bare complainers who come to sponge off someone else's hard work then insult them.

I am starting to realize that Kpop and Kpop games are the biggest threat to the world peace/stability that has even existed on this planet.

Every kpop game on this site leads to an extemely hostile debate of massive proportions.

Ban kpop and kpop games - let the world be peaceful once more, I say!!

Always pre-screen waygook stuff before you use it in class, you're free to delete whatever you dont want to show (I once came across a ppt on here with a gif of a guy getting hit by a car for the word 'Stop'...)

That being said, honestly these are the versions of the videos edited to be appropriate... watch the rest of the Bang Bang video and be glad I kept Nicki Minaj and her ridiculous **** out of it... I was sure to keep anyone smoking out of the clip from CL's video, all the shots of the cheating husband out of Sam Smith, the woman mouthing "what the fxxk" in Maroon 5, heck I even used a version with blurred tattoos for CJamm's video.
