I had the Cookie Monster bomb game lined up, but our projector conked out in the 2nd period, so I poked around the Internet for inspiration while the kids were doing some textbook stuff and came up with a simple game that they were excited about.
First, without telling them what was going on I asked them to raise their hands and tell me simple nouns, and I wrote them on the board as I got them till there were 12. Next, I got six emotions from them the same way.
I told them it could be a hard activity, and I was willing to do it first to demonstrate.
I rolled one die to randomly choose an emotion, and two dice to randomly choose a noun.
emotion = happy, noun = chair
I had to draw a happy chair on the board.
Kids were immediately forming and laughing at different combinations of objects and emotions, and lots of hands were raised to be the next person to roll the dice and draw. It was a fun activity.
