Music Lesson Writing/Speaking For Fun
« on: May 02, 2011, 09:17:10 PM »
This is a lesson I've used with both 2nd and 3rd grade. I start the class by having them think of different music groups they like. You can have them write the answers on the board, or you can do it yourself. I like to get them moving around a bit. After we finish, I ask a few questions. Who can play a musical instrument? Who has been to a concert? Then I share my PowerPoint. Surprise, they don't know Van Halen. Those who love music enjoy the Eruption guitar solo. After this is finished, they get into groups and write facts and opinions about their favorite groups. They present them to the class. It will always be KPOP.

If time remains, I have the students tell me the names of ten songs. As a class, we create a story using the song names. This always turns out great. I usually have to start the first sentence with my lower level classes, but they get the idea pretty quick. I write the story on the board so the students don't lose track of it.

I like the idea and powerpoint for sure. But that video of an older Eddie just seems so weird to me haha...I'll have to find one when he was younger...Thanks for the idea though. I think I'll have the students use the computers in our class room to get online and find some facts about their favorite bands...turn it into a small project.

Hi, I love your idea, that awesome,,, but the problem is that my students low level,,,, Maybe I'll try to explain the meaning of the song and talk about what kinds of emotions and feeling of song is. then give them handout  the lyrics of the song and tell them that they must find the missing words. hope that , my students love this .. thanks a lot. be safe.  :)

Eddie is old in my video. Age is just a number...proof of the video. Here is another PowerPoint. This one is AC/DC. I plan to put up one or two more. This helps me not look at the same lesson each period.

Fun lesson. It's short...I'm merging with another music lesson.

Thanks!
