Murder Mystery Weekend Camp
« on: June 07, 2017, 11:53:16 AM »
Hey everyone,

I have never technically done a "Winter Camp", but I recently taught a fairly successful 2-day weekend English camp, so I thought I'd share those plans with you if you need some inspiration. In order to trick the students into learning on a weekend when they'd rather be home playing computer games, I decided to make it loosely murder mystery-themed. They seemed to like learning such violent words, and I think they stuck, because later they were calling each other serial killers, assassins, and the like.

I teach at 2 different middle schools, and this camp was designed for my really tiny school in which there are only 15 students total. 1st through 3rd grade students attended, so there was a variety of levels to work with.

Not all of the materials used are totally mine; thank you to those whose materials I borrowed and modified!

Please, take these materials and use them to your heart's content!

How exactly did you do this lesson/camp? Do you have a lesson plan or at least a rough outline of the schedule that you followed? Thank you.

Hi redbeans920,

In the Google Drive link, there should be a document called "English Camp Schedule" that lays out the rough timing, gives a brief description of the activities, and lists the materials needed for them. I will admit, though, I had to modify some of the schedule on the fly.
