Board Game Camp

Notes:
  • 5 days
  • 80 mins per class
  • Week 1 - Grades 3 and 4
  • Week 2 - Grades 5 and 6 (additional vocabulary / rules)

Daily Breakdown:
  • Movie (15-20')
  • Game Vocab
  • Game Instructions
  • Game Play

Movie:
  • Jumanji
  • Downloaded the movie + Korean subtitles (thanks YIFY) for better time management and to watch full screen.
  • Online version w/ subtitles also available (link in PPT)

Games:
  • Day 1 - Yahtzee
  • Day 2 - Scrabble (Jr.)
  • Day 3 - Sorry!
  • Day 4 - Jenga + Word Search (Grades 3-4)
  • Day 4 - Clue (Grades 5-6)
  • Day 5 - Your Choice!

Attached:
  • PPT
    - Intro / Greetings
    - Vocab Review
    - Movie Review
    - Game Vocab
    - Game Instructions

Additional Notes:
  • Please check PPTs prior to viewing.
  • Some game instructions / rules were omitted for easier / simple game play.

  • Most students in one class: 23
  • Number of sets purchased:
    - Yahtzee (1) - made additional 5 sets using school supplies
    - Scrabble Jr. (4) - had larger classes work in pairs / teams
    - Sorry! (5)
    - Jenga (0) - school already had 5 sets
    - Clue (4)
  • Day 5 was cool to see kids teach other kids that were absent how to play.

i used to get them to make their own board game, write down the rules, then play each other's. that usually took up a day or two of camp, and required pretty much no prep or effort (and the kids loved it)

Clue is ridiculously expensive here.  Were you able to find an Enlgish version for less than like 40 or 50,000?

I found it on amazon for 8.99USD.
If you or a friend have "prime" you can send it to a secondary shipper like OHMYZIP for free. It usually costs about 8.00USD to forward.
