Flip cup!  I had my students write down where they wanted to go and what they wanted to do for a future summer vacation, then we folded the papers and mixed them up before placing them into the cups.

I want more ideas too!!
But I'm about to do a lesson about "their most memorable moment of the summer holiday", these students are pretty high level so I'm thinking to make comic strips about that topic!

I've been using this version of 2 truths and 1 lie to talk about their summer vacation (only I have the student read the sentence instead of me). My middle school boys have really enjoyed it so far (grades 1&2). Some have been really creative, but even the simplest sentences like "I went to school" completely messes with them.

I had my HS students do a conversation bingo, then write postcards.

The bingo wasn't really bingo, but if I tell them its bingo, they get excited. But in the squares it had questions like "What are 3 countries you'd never visit?" "Have you ever had a problem when traveling?" "would you ever travel alone?" etc.

For the postcards, I found a really good worksheet online, but the gist of it was... you went on vacation, and you will write 2 postcards. The fist postcard says you had a terrible time: the food was disgusting and you found a hair! The hotel had no wifi! It rained everyday!
The 2nd postcard says you had a wonderful time: Hotel: 5 stars and 3 swimming pools! Food was so delicious you gained 2 kg! etc etc. You really have to set up the scenarios for them...get them pumped.

Oh and in between bingo and postcards, we played "Can you guess the famous landmark and where it is? IN ENGLISH"

Class went over really well, and I got some really funny postcards.

Do you think you could post the postcard worksheet? I'm interested in doing this with my students.

Oh, and here's what I'm doing for Grade 1 middle school (I've used this for 6th & 2nd as well). It's a Summer Vacation worksheet where they draw what they did this summer, and then on the back (or front), there's a 4 truths, 1 lie WS. I do the 4 truths game first, then they draw pictures.

It's pretty straight forward.
