Some of this from the old daekyo book might be helpful to say how you are feeling or what you are doing.  You may have to edit the ppt's though.  http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,69922

I honestly can't take any credit for this work because it was from another thread and I just deleted a few slides and changed some words to make it fit this lesson. It seems simple enough. For the pass the ball game at the end we issue green points to our students so whatever points system you use please edit those slides.

The ppt contains an introduction video and target language. Some speaking practice and a pass the ball game.

Here is a video you can use as a warm up. It is pretty close to the book's dialogue and includes a lot more emotions to review/introduce. Enjoy!

Here are two games I got from another thread and changed for the target language of this book. My Co-teacher wants me to only use the words in the book so please excuse the monotony. You can edit it to suit the needs of your classes. It is a writing telepathy game and a reading game for periods 3 and 4.

This is pretty much the exact same lesson as the Daekyo grade 3 lesson here:
http://www.waygook.org/index.php/topic,73774.0.html

The only difference is Daekyo has sick instead of thirsty, so watch out for that.

I created this for my students due to having forgotten my CD at my 3rd school of the week.

I always start my class with the greeting and a student come up and reports the date and the weather (which helps take time and review basics that everyone should know).

Then I will hand out the worksheets and have students know to do parts A, E, B, C, D (in that order). I realized that part E was essential to the rest, but I had already finished the worksheet and did not have the time to fix it all. I printed, cut and taped slides 2-8 on the walls in the classroom. The students are supposed to get up and work their way around the classroom to fill in the crossword puzzle (they are not, however, allowed to remain seated while someone else feeds them the answers).

For, part E, I put up the hint slide  on the screen and the students will be able to "hopefully" figure it out (or can ask for help from me).

The rest of the worksheet is based off of all the vocabulary from parts A and E. If they refer to these parts, everything (other than the word "Drink" in part D.3 are already on the worksheet.

Last thing about the worksheet, now that I have successfully completed the activity. Part D, they are supposed to circle the picture that does not match. (students tend not to read the instructions and circle all the picture that match the sentence).

I potentially will review the correct answers, and play some sort of card game with my students at the end. I am thinking of playing telephone with two teams where the last person must put up the appropriate picture or pictures according to the word or short sentence I have secretly told the first two students in line.

This is a vocab practice (and slightly a writing practice) day to familiarize students to the vocabulary. When I get my CD back at the end of the week, I'll review lesson 1 & 2 together in a modified lesson.

Listening Game

Read slide 10 and have the students fill out the worksheet and try to solve the code.  When they get it correct and unlock the code, then they get to watch a little gif.  You can edit and put anything in there, but I just kept it simple to the target vocabulary.

Introductory PPT with vocab & key expressions. Be sure to check this post every now & again as I'll be editing it if/when I make more files for the later parts of the lesson.

All Periods Intro: Pretty self explanatory. (Ideal for all periods)

Heads Up 7 Up game: Instructions included in the PPT as well as a PDF of some picture cards if you need them. (Ideal for the second period)

Reading game:  Survival game.  Directions are on the PPT.  Credit to the original maker of this template.  *I made the game pretty simple because my students are lower level.

Writing practice:  I've attached a worksheet I got off the CD.  It's writing practice for the keywords/sentences.

Picture cards:  Also got these off the CD.  They're printable cards for all the "Play Together" games in this unit.

Showtime PPT! :)

Just left a note on the 3rd grade page. This was terrific! My co-teacher and I weren't sure how it would fly, but the kids enjoyed it. We didn't give them a script and most were able to follow it. Terrific!!!

Thanks!

Four Corners game

Some sentence practice before the game.

Game starts and students pick a corner.  Then each corner will say all together (all the people in that corner):  Are you ____? (happy/sad/angry/etc).  Then the teacher reveals which corner has the bomb.  (You can play this any number of ways...usually I have corners who didn't get the bomb get 1 point, and then everyone plays again for the next round. )

There are 10 rounds:  4 rounds with one bomb, 3 rounds with two bombs, and 3 rounds with 3 bombs.

Some materials I made.

"Magic Mirror" activity.  I showed the class the powerpoint, explaining the concept of the magic mirror and the "magical" chant to control the mirror.  I cut out an oval from a piece of paper to be my "magic mirror" and held it up so my face was fit in the hole.  I had the kids do the chant and change my face to show the emotion/feeling. "Mirror, mirror, show me 'happy!'"  Then I handed out "magic mirrors" to all students and they hold them up to their faces.  Students follow teacher's directions, and then students can take turns being the queen and commanding the class.  My students really enjoyed this activity.  It's really funny and the kids really get into making the faces.  It gets them talking a lot.

What's Missing?

Hey kuitair, the Gallery Walk activity is great! I used it today and my coteacher and I (but mainly her haha) made a few modifications to the Korean and the order of the worksheet. So the students can proceed with A, B, C, D, E now. I'll be using it at my other school next week. It's a great activity that was low-key yet involved at the same time.

Prep 5 mins: Print slides 2-8 one-sided, cut in half, tape up on the walls.
Print slides 9-10 as a double sided worksheet for each student.

After the Ss made some headway on the crossword, I just displayed slide 11 so they could easily move onto section B (formerly E!).

Go over the answers.
Tape it into their notebooks.
Whole thing took 30 mins. but could be extended or shortened based on your need.
