I've been asked to avoid using - or rather following - the book too closely, therefore I cobbled a few things together from different resources covering similar topics and came up with this.
It might work as a starting point for someone ~

Thank you for the PPT!!  Here is a PPT I've 100% "borrowed" from another generous waygooker.  I apologize I don't remember who it was, this was taken from another book and another lesson.  It is good practice for weather and the students really get a kick out of it for some reason.  It can be modified a bit more to fit this lesson but I hope it helps some people out.

I also took these from another thread and book. They worked quite well for this lesson.

Here's what I used for the sesond lesson, introducing others. For the pictures activity I either put them into groupos of four to introduce the famous person or I introduced facts about them to the whole class and they had to guess who it was. I thought the PDF worked well for pairs.

Some great resources out there, thanks to all for sharing. Here's what I've come up with for lesson 3 for my low-ish level 1st graders. Might need some tidying up.

I'm moving through the book pretty fast, so I made this food culture lesson.

It's based on one of the sections of the book where students are supposed to research world food. Instead, I did this.

It plays like a golden bell quiz game. All the kids need is a white board, and you need to do is to keep the score on the board.

Don't quiz them on everything in the PPT, just the slides that say 'QUIZ'

Thanks :) hope you enjoy it.

it was decently fun. Challenging, but I think the kids learned a little bit.

Hello,

I rehashed the weather in South Korea PPT to make it more up-to-date.
