This is for Lesson 2 Listen & Talk 1. "Be careful."

I use the textbook for pages 26 and 27 with the computer program and then play a game afterward.

I change the main phrases slightly and focus on these ones because they're more general.

1) There are _____ here.
2) Don't hurt yourself.
3) Watch your step.
4) _____ may cross here.

For the game, I print out a bunch of cards. One set for each team (4-5 students) that you have. One person turns over a card and the first person to put their hand on it gets the card. However, they have to say "Be careful", or "Safe" depending on the picture. If they don't have the correct word then the person whose hand is on top of theirs gets a chance.

After they get the card they also have to say an appropriate phrase for the picture (1-4 listed above).

The person with the most cards in each group wins. Usually, there's enough time to play 2-3 rounds. After the first round, I will take the winners of each group and put them in a group by themselves with an extra set. This way the most competitive will play together and the others will have a chance to win.

LISTEN AND TALK (PART 2)

This is an elimination game to review the expressions: (A) What are you doing? (B) I'm _____.

How to play: All students stand up. Go around the class with each student choosing and saying a sentence from the PPT slide. Click on the sentences to reveal an (X) or (O). If there is an (X), that student is eliminated. They are safe if there is an (O).

I included other phrases to build up from the expression, "What are you doing?" (ie. What are you eating, where are you eating, who are you eating with, etc.)

FILLER ACTIVITY

I put together a worksheet to further check the students' understanding at the end of class, since the elimination game usually doesn't take the full 45-min.
