For Period 1, I introduced the colors and key expressions. Most students are familiar with the colors so we focussed on spelling and recognizing the phonics sounds in them as we reviewed.

Activies
-Look at the blank pictures and figure out which color they should be.
-The Singing Walrus - Rainbow Song https://youtu.be/SLZcWGQQsmg
-Coloring Activity - Each group of students has a coloring page and pack of crayons.

Teacher: I see a ________.
Everyone asks: What color is it?
*spin a random color wheel*
Teacher: It's _________.

Students really enjoyed it especially when the colors are off beat like a pink bear. At the end you get all these silly colored pictures from each class. You could hang them up to decorate the room!

Pokemon Four Corners game

Works for period 1 or 2.  After the students choose a Pokemon (corner), I ask each corner "what color is it?" and have them answer.  Then I reveal the winner.  The students in the winning corner get a point and everyone plays again for the next round (so no one is out at any time).  The PPT has 9 rounds...originally had 15 but the file was too large to share.  You might want to add more rounds if you think you'll need it.

*Credit to the original maker of this template.  I just swapped out the pics to fit this lesson.

Easy Reading Bingo
Self-explanatory, but here's how I played :)

First used PPT to review colors and spelling.. kept the last slide up while we played the game.

Students ask the teacher, "What color is it?"
Teacher picks a color from the bag/hat (I put crayons in a bag), and answers "It's ____"

The bingo boards have the words more than once, so students can cross all "red" words out at once, or one at a time.. depending on time.

**If you want to practice the expression, "I like (color)", you can choose one student to stand up and make a sentence with the color they want to cross off next.. This would be more student-guided bingo.

very easy and simple sight-word reading practice :)

- Super Mario Mystery Box Bomb Game (credit to taylorwithane for this awesome template!)

- pokemon telepathy game worksheet. Found the telepathy game floating around somewhere in this lesson so I made a worksheet to go with that ppt :)

I am doing the first period of this lesson for my open class, so I made a Chicken Cha Cha game. This is the first time my 3rd graders played Chicken Cha Cha; usually my 5th and 6th graders play. But they played it today and they didn't have any problems, so I hope it goes well for my open class tomorrow!

To play: the students will be in groups. In my classes groups are anywhere  from 3 to 6 players. The eggs go in a circle face up. The tiles go in the middle of the circle face down. The students place their chicken, in our case an Angry Bird, on the egg closest to them. The group plays rock, paper, scissors, and the winner begins the game. The group will then take turns playing going clockwise. The chickens will move clockwise as well. To move the chicken, the player must match the tile to the egg next to their piece. If they jump over, or cha cha, past another chicken, they can take that player's feather. We tape pom poms to the back of the Angry Birds to use as the feathers.  The player with the most  feathers in their group at the end of class wins!

I will attach the official game play rules for the game, as Chicken Cha Cha is a board game. We change some of the rules for our class; for example, in the game the player keeps playing until they can't match the tile to the egg, because it is a memory game. I leave that up to my teachers to decide if they want to play it that way, but most them prefer to have each player take a turn instead. The students still manage to collect feathers, so it is still fun. Also, in the real game the player who collects all of the feathers wins and the game stops. We prefer to play until the end of class.

This game requires a lot of prep, I make six to eight sets and I laminate each one! /When printing, print the black slides on the back of the tile slides.

I will also attach a one minute video that shows how the game is played. I use this to introduce the game. The students probably don't understand the English, but they get an idea of how the game is set up and how it is played.

We played this today and there weren't mistakes on it.

Since this is my open class, I will attach the PPT I use to open the class. The pictures in the PPT were used in the game, so everything matches. However, I took screenshots of the vocabulary words from the book and they didn't turn out well because the pictures are small in the book. I realize this isn't the best looking PPT.

Enjoy!

Here's a colors guessing game. Students see a black and white picture and must guess what color it is.

I am transferring to a new place for second semester, and I believe the students will continue to study online next fall, so I made PPTs for each lesson for the rest of the book.

I made a PPT with my voice over for this lesson. I made a similar ones for previous lessons in this book, so I will write the same there that I wrote in previous posts. The music is royalty free music from  bensounds.com.

If you would like to use this PPT and record your own voice, from the first slide my voice over is the speaker on the right. You can delete those and then record your voice. On the first slide, the speaker for the music is on the left. It is set to play at the lowest volume on a loop for the entire presentation. If you want to keep the music, don't delete the left speaker on the first slide!

Korean English Teachers: you are welcome to use this PPT with my voice for your school.

If you need to change the PPT to a video, you can use the export feature to to convert it to a mp4, however, it doesn't work with all versions of Office. The version of Office must have a subscription in order to use this feature.

Just a basic 4 corners game without a writing component. Obviously this could be adapted to include a writing component.
