Here is a nice worksheet that goes along with the current curriculum. It has vocabulary, key phrases, fill in the blank, as well as flag/country matching
. Enjoy!
*also available for windows 97/2003.

Heres a ppt i made for Grade 6 lesson 1 Where are you from. I turned it into a little game where students had to try and guess what flag or person belonged to which country. Enjoy.

Maybe a bit late, but here's a ppt game to review "Where are you from?". It pretty much works the same as BAAM!, but either the teams that aren't answering or the teacher asks "Where are you from?"

if you are looking for a great video to have one while the class is settling down I used this Alicia Keyes New York one today and the kids really liked it
they liked looking at the lyrics while listening to the song

Break the class into groups. Have them listen to the video and write down as many countries as they can. The group with the most countries wins. Super easy, the kids love it, and it gets them listening, speaking and writing.

For the first class of this lesson, I made a quick PowerPoint using all of the flags that are on the mat of our activity room. My classroom has six tables, which we used as teams, and each team was assigned a continent using a die that I had made. That team was then responsible for learning only their countries' flags, so when we went to the activity room they would know where to say they were from.
In the activity room, we played it in the style of "1박2일", where one student from each continent would have to stand up. The goal was to say, "I'm from ...." and sit down as quickly as possible before another person would say it. If two or more players speak at the same time, they're out... The last person to answer is out if there's no FAIL... and if the player makes a mistake, they're out. It's a fun, quick intro game.
Here's the PowerPoint:

here is the original and modified PPT game for practicing ordinal numbers.
it shows a short car race, and students have to remember what place the (color/country) car came in.
modified file:
race cars ppt + 2 wav files
-please insert all 3 files into one folder for ppt to work properly.

This is a "Pass the Pencilcase" edit of Warrior's "Where are you from" powerpoint listed above.
Thanks to Warrior for the original.
Thanks to Rufus for the massive games pack that has been available.
Note:the two powerpoints are the same. The PPTX file is for newer versions of Powerpoint.

Put this on as an intro to the lesson. You can then ask, 'what's the matter with the Count's counting?'
