Break the class into groups. Have them listen to the video and write down as many countries as they can. The group with the most countries wins. Super easy, the kids love it, and it gets them listening, speaking and writing.

I loved Animaniacs as a kid! I wasn't sure how the kids would react to the show here, but I took the above video and incorporated it into my 'Where Are You From?' lesson (towards the end) and the kids loved it! Thank you for the video recommendation!

Here is a nice worksheet that goes along with the current curriculum.  It has vocabulary, key phrases, fill in the blank, as well as flag/country matching.  Enjoy! ;D

An activity that I thought of for this topic was to give everyone a famous soccer player with a picture on the front and the name of the country on the back. Give each student a piece of paper with the other soccer players with a blank for where the player is from. After reviewing their soccer player kids can go around the class and ask other students "Where are you from?"

thanks to the original poster who provided us with Pirate Games. It's an awesome game :D.

I ended up changing the game a little bit because the links weren't working on my school's computer.

My kids like the minus to plus thing.

This year my 5th and 6th graders have similar topics even with the difference in grade level. Both grade levels this year's first lesson is "Where are you from?" so I used basically the same lesson plan for them.

I made two guessing game about different currencies.

One is for lower level students and they just have to guess where the currency is from.
The second adds another slide for each country where they try and guess how much 10,000 won will buy.
