Food adjectives
« Reply #1 on: April 07, 2011, 03:49:16 PM »
I did this topic with my 5/6th grade after school class, and they seemed to enjoy it - i think mainly because its about food! I practiced the vocabulary with them, asking them to tell me foods that were 'sweet/spicy...etc' then i played a blockbuster game. the next lesson i brought in some different snacks and got them to do a taste test one snack at a time. they tasted the snack, then ticked all the adjectives that applied to it. then once we were finished i got them to write out sentences describing each food.

Just a couple of basic foods that i covered during a lesson

After the students learned some of different kinds of food - spaghetti, pizza, rice etc. I played hangman with the kids. I split up the class into two teams and had each team guess a letter and go back and forth between teams. The team that guessed the word correctly won. It was a good way to incorporate a game with what they were learning while also emphasizing the spelling of each word.

Here's another ppt with different food items. The expression I focused the lesson on is "I have __ and __. What do you want to eat?" / "I want to eat __."

Hope this is useful.

food from around the world
« Reply #18 on: April 13, 2012, 01:23:52 PM »
Hello,
This lesson worked well and can be adapted for multi levels.  Use this TIME Magazine article about food from around the world http://www.time.com/time/photogallery/0,29307,1626519,00.html.  Students can be asked a plethora of questions and they found hte differences in food fascinating.
