Adjective Olympics
« on: December 06, 2018, 12:29:11 pm »
This lesson has been a huge success at both my middle schools so I thought I would share.
Last week I reviewed comparative adjectives and then this week did a quick run through of superlatives as well as an intro by reviewing some Olympic sports. Most students already have a good understanding of comparatives and superlatives (1st grade middle schoolers).

My powerpoint is a modified version of someone else's on here as well as the concept of an adjective Olympics. I make each team write the corresponding sentence depending on whether their team wins first, second or third place. This keeps all students focused on something in between games and they can also each keep track of their team's points. It's really helpful for a co teacher to explain this but after the first event the students will understand the gist of it. This has been a very entertaining lesson for both me and the students so I hope you enjoy :)
There's also a random olympic highlight video you can play if you have more time but I've found most my classes will get through the last event right around 45 minutes.

You have to pay for the membership. It's $20 per year or $5 per month.
