C|English Festival Ideas
« on: March 11, 2019, 12:04:57 PM »
I have just been told that I have to have a lesson plan for an english festival by the end of april. This is my first time teaching which means I have never really did a plan for festival yet.

The festival is 3 days long (May 13-17th) and we have a budget of around 40,000 won per day. I teach grades 3rd-6th. So I need something that is going to be fun for young learners. I have been told I can do anything I want.

I do have some ideas including

Music (teaching them about different music around the world)
Foods (different foods of the world with maybe them making something)
Disney (not sure what to do with this yet)

Not sure what else to do but I'm still researching so any ideas would help a lot.

Thanks in advance!

Will there be a performance involved? Or you will you just be alone with the kids for three days?

I haven't been told that there will be a performance involved. From what I've been told, it is going to be treated as a regular class day with more freedom (any topic).

This is going to be at my main school.

M  2nd- 5th period: 6th graders
Tu 1st period: 3rd grade, 2-4th period: 5th grade
We 1st and 2nd period: 3rd graders, 3rd-5th period: 5th graders

So i basically have to teach grades 3rd-6th. I figured that I could maybe group 3rd and 4th graders together, and 5th and 6th graders together since what those 2 different groups are learning is pretty similar.

I've never pulled off a Disney or music one, but I've done the food theme with success (making crazy sandwiches was the best one).  I'd also add the general ideas of...

(4) Board game themed
E.g. Twister, monopoly

(5) Card game themed

e.g. this one mythical creature, vs aliens/robots vs humans

(6)  Olympics

e.g.

(7) Craft/engineering themed

e.g. the egg drop challenge (love this one)

Here is a summer/winter camp thread with a ton of great ideas that can be adapted as well...
