A teacher's pay isn't considered 'luxurious' by any means but 2,3 million = just 1700 euros. A postal worker makes 1800; a DHL truck driver makes €2.750  + overtime/ weekends 150% pay. So, you'd make more money, considerably more if you'd deliver Amazon packages and worked on Saturdays and evenings till 9 pm. which is a hakwon job, isn't it?

DHL Courier daily salaries in the United States $126 per day...

https://www.indeed.com/salaries/Courier-Salaries-at-DHL
And this job=1,871= 62 USD

I'm just saying bell peppers in EU: 0,29 p= 439 won. And Korea is a domestic producer of bell peppers.
Check your local Pimangs! Is Korea still so 'cheap'?

Meanwhile, the hagwon director walks home with 10-20mil profit per month.

They are following a winner-takes-all business model. I've been too Jeju. There's wonderful art galleries. Some of the bars are nice because they are run by friendly people who speak English. That's convenient for foreigners new to the island. But Jeju isn't so cheap. You need a car to get around the island properly and see everything.

Im' very proud of my fellow teachers after reading comments like these.  Don't let these cheapskates make obscene profits while we do all the work.  Always hold out of the best deal you can. These schools could easily bump up the pay a bit and take home only slightly less profits. But they'd rather lowball the teachers all they can so they can take home a few extra hundred thousand

I taught on Jeju Island, in the southern coastal city of Seogwipo, four blocks from the sea, for 7+ years (ending April 2017) and i made a base salary of 2.4 m but took home 3.1 to 3.3 most months due to overtime (no, i never worked mornings ever, no one ever did at.that hagwon, but i did have an extra class from 9pm to 10pm every other night and two Saturday classes).

That said,...

I TOTALLY understand someone accepting less pay to work near a Jeju beach. (Downtown Jeju City? F that street traffic and airport flight constant noise. But near one of several great beaches, from Hyopjae to Pyoseon... i get it.)

...speaking of low ball....even EV's are not providing upfront airfare these days.  What a waste of space Korea has become, for this industry.
