In my 18+ years of hagwon teaching hete I have NEVER been expected to work a regular 8-hour shift!!I have chosen to work 8 hours, putting in 2 hours of prep when 30 minutes was only expected. But that has been up to me.Of course I stay away from hagwons that teach adults and kindy, inviting split shifts. All that said,... an EIGHT-hour work day is not unreasonable (even if unusual in this industry, aside from split shift jobs) and teaching is a JOY for many of us, so the conditions could be enjoyable and worthwhile for some.Working at a job you like, in a pretty safe environment in a COVID19 world, for a salary in which you can easily save $1000 U.S. a month for future plans, ... is not bad.
