http://www.koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20210201000668BTS has been named one of the 10 best bands ever by US magazine Esquire. The other bands honored by the magazine -- the Supremes, the Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Queen, Sly and the Family Stone, the Beach Boys, ABBA, the Temptations and Destinys Child -- were popular at different times from the 1960s through the 2000s.Don't worry. It is on Esquires opinion. It means very little.
Is it true that if you buy a certain number of K pop CDs from certain groups, you qualify to meet them in person and a really high number means you can shake their hand/kiss them/grope them up? My wife said ajoshis are known to buy multiple albums by girl groups for this purpose. As for the list, irrelevant unless it's based on a massive poll, a large panel of music experts or stats.
Feminized beta-males are considered one of the 10 best bands after a magazine said so?Really?:/
Thankfully rock never had such things as long hair, makeup, flamboyant outfits, and mincing on stage.
Of course they did, but in the day, did anyone ever think Rob Halford was gay? Plant? Page? Blackmore? Jagger (who spent as much time in bed with Bowie as Bowie did with his wife) How about the Backstreet Boys? They all did time in the sack with Uncle Lou, but did everyone (except rockers) think they were gay?The thing is, K boys in boy bands really look and act gay for the most part. Of course, it's no great secret that there are a lot of Uncle Kim's mincing around behind the stage.

Every dad of every teenager during that time thought they were gay.Seriously, you think dads and old men back then were rocking out? No. They were calling those guys a bunch of long-haired *****. Face it dude, the same shit that you're saying about BTS, millions of dads and WWII vets said about your rock bands. It's just how things go. Age gracefully and accept the passing of the torch.
BTS have achieved enormous things for Korean music and even gotten US mainstream radio play with a couple of their latest songs. They frequently appear on US talk shows and do interviews/sketches with late night hosts. They are a household name - most people have probably heard their single "Dynamite" even if they don't know BTS sings it because it was a huge radio hit last year.As people, they are kind, genuine, charitable, humble, and unproblematic artists. They also work incredibly hard and despite a lengthy career for a K-pop group have never let up on the amount of effort, time, and devotion to their albums/concerts/choreo.Whether their music is your style or not, I feel all of these things make them totally deserving of recognition.
Umm, like I said back then I don't think gay spotting was a thing like it is now. As I remember, there were overtly camp entertainers like John Inman, Danny La Rue Liberace etc. and straight people - ie everyone else.
Quite a bit of homophobia and racism for a thread putatively about music groups. Eh, Kyndo?
You couldn't be more wrong. I know no fathers who said The Beatles were gay, or Led Zep et al. I know many fathers who thought they were a bunch of long-haired dope smoking weirdos. But as a child of the 60's and 70's, I have no memories of gay being brought up.
