Worst Hollywood actor/actress
« on: March 09, 2021, 12:08:31 pm »
Most would rest this dubious crown on the head of Tommy Wiseau, but I strongly disagree. The Room, and Wiseau's acting have become the perfect illustration of the "So bad its good" category. One actor risees above all in his awfulness and the thespian in question is none other than... Steven Seagal.

Everything surrounding this man seems to be fake. For some reason TY recommended a video of him showing off his collection of celebrity-owned guitars. He goes on to say how he's a "serious player" and been playing since childhood. I watched one of his performances and not only is his playing next-level shit, but I strongly suspect that he uses pre-recordings during these performances. Either way, anyone who buys a celebrity-owned guitar for a couple thousand/hundred grand and gigs with it is a f*cking moron and a poser, no question.

That aside: sexual harassment, only bad movies, the hair, fake marital arts, "taught" Bruce Lee

Oh well, spent quite an entertaining hour catching up on ol' Stevie.

Megan Markle

If you are referring to Meghan Markle, then I would totally disagree here.

The royal family and everybody it employs is a stain on a modern, egalitarian
democracy. The "family" should have all legal recognition removed and Buckingham
palace should be destroyed and ground down to provide gravel for parking lots.

Every other peerage should be turned into public parks and the manors converted
into snack bars.

Its hard to say as so many Hollywood movies have become unwatchable lately. In addition, the problem might not lie with the actor but with some of the horrible Hollywood scripts out there.

What does the Royal Family have to do with Meghan Markle's abilities as an actress?  I don't have an opinion as I've never watched Suits, but she does have work out there for people to judge.  There are many but as I was watching the Guy Ritchie film "Gentleman" the other night I kept thinking it was a good film but why was this one actor in it?  He stunk in the role.  Googled it and his name is Jeremy Strong.

I wouldn't have had stoat pegged as a Suits fan.

Jeremy Strong. Currently starring in HBO's Succession. And doing a pretty good job. Haven't seen Gentleman so can't comment on his performance in that.

Haha, the man had his moments though. He was incredibly annoying and, at the same time, convincing in 'The Rock'. 'Family Man' was also a great movie and I have to say he acted well in that one, IMHO.

Worst actress? Easy, and female pop-star who tried her hand at acting; Jennifer Lopez, Madonna, Janet Jackson Barbara Streisand etc.

No, I think i came across her first in something called the 'Oprah Winfrey show' when she was trying to play a victim. Pretty unsuccessfully, I thought, though maybe that was because she was sitting outside her 9 bedroom 16 bathroom mansion.

For Out of Sight, I can't put her on the list

When I saw the title of the thread, Steven Seagal is the only person that immediately popped into my mind. I'm struggling to think of someone that comes close for consistency in churning out bad performances in bad movies.

Yeah, I definitely agree with Madonna.  Her roles are laugh out loud bad.  Can't say I've seen much Of Babs work, but I have always enjoyed the classic "What's Up Doc?" with Ryan O'Neal.

Jennifer Lopez is actually pretty good in U-Turn and Selena as well. Never knew his name until just now, but yeah, Jeremy Strong is good in Succession. Speaking of which, I hope the third season materializes sometime soon.

Despite having played some awards-y roles, I can't stand the sight of Kevin Costner on screen. Has he actually been in anything that would be judged kindly by modern standards? Maybe The Untouchables. But everything else looks pretty embarrassing from a 2021 vantage point.

Steven Segal is terrible, of course, but how about the poor man's Segal from The Karate Kid III? Even worse.

Guys like Pauly Shore, Tom Greene or Adam Sandler come to mind, one-dimensional as actors who belong to a very embarrassing era of the 90s.

I think there's still a ray of light for Costner. I thoroughly enjoyed 'Mr Brooks', a mess of a movie, but it had some genuinely great moments. The issue with Costner is that he
played the 'white saviour' in all of his 90s movies and well... different time.
He has versatility, isn't a bad actor, seems to have aged well and I can certainly see him playing a multitude of supporting roles in the future.

If we're talking about known actors with established acting careers and who also somehow have a following that keeps them employed in big name films or franchises, then yeah, I agree with Steven Seagal. He's a terrible actor and a rl prick. That guy is so weird, too, and not in a good way.

Worst actresses for me would have to be Olivia Munn and Kristen Stewart.

Don't do my man like that, it's not his fault that studios don't always ask him to perform roles best suited for him. What's he supposed to do, turn them down? Not Nic Cage, man. He's a *do* man, not a *don't* man.

He's an *I need the money man.*  He has a lot of great films, but I can't stand when he does the worked up hyper out of control schtick.  The eye popping and frenetic thing.  I'd rather watch Tom Cruise on Oprah's couch on a loop than watch that Nic Cage.

Raising Arizona was his last good role.
