Imo, I don't think Oli London is a good example to use in the "transracial vs transgender" argument because I don't think it's the race that's most important to him, but Jimin. Usually when we see people insist that they are the same as a celebrity, and even go as far as getting plastic surgery to look like that celebrity, they're looked at by the vast majority of people as being insane (for lack of a better word). We've seen it with people trying to look/act like Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande, and many others. Finding your identity and how you feel most comfortable is one thing, and for some people, that includes getting plastic surgery or being inspired by someone and emulating them. Trying to change your entire life, from how you look to your name, to copy every aspect of another person is entirely different. When I look at Oli London I feel both anger and pity towards him, because he obviously has some deeper issues that he needs to work out if the only way he can feel comfortable in himself is to copy another person down to their name and looks. People that are transgender don't typically just copy someone else. I mean, maybe if they're getting plastic surgery they might have a person they find attractive to use as reference, but they're not trying to literally be that person. Oli London isn't just trying to be Korean, he's trying to be Jimin, and because Jimin is Korean, Oli London wants to be Korean too. I would bet money that if Jimin were any race other than white, Oli London would say he's that race because Jimin is the important factor here. And the fact that he says, "no one else has come out as Jimin" is so weird. No one else has come out as "Jimin" because you can't "come out" as another person?? Imo, Oli London's behavior is a completely different separate from the "transracial" argument because there is so much more going on with him. If he just claimed he was Korean and got plastic surgery to look Korean, then he'd be a good example here. But nope, it's all about Jimin, so I guess instead we could have another conversation of can you identify as another person? Or should you maybe go to therapy? I don't follow bts at all but I would pay to hear what Jimin's thoughts are on all this.
have you checked the other thread? my man is not serious at all
the second one seems like it would interfere with the first
