What music are you listening to?

Help others, especially animals. Say what you think, being considerate of others. Appreciate more than deprecate. Teach well and jump on teachable moments. Enjoy Korea as it is, without changing it. Yet, at times, change your life for the better. "The most important [thing] is to have a good day."

Been getting back into Macklemore recently. The man only makes hits.

It is interesting you posted that.  I was walking into a Mapco (southern gas station/convenience store) and I heard this coming out of a car and thought it was decent.  I could not get the lyrics well (right ear is a bit low on fuel) but I could take in the vibe.

Thanks for posting that...I was wondering who was behind the song.

Just when one decides enough is enough...

An unplugged, bleeding heart version brings one back IN.

John Mellencamp...I love him. In my book a top 10 ever. No referral!

Just a reminder that he is soooo...cool!
Um. Back in '87 I had a part time job in college working in a men's wear store (Elk's, a Canadian premier chain until they later folded)  and for the Xmas party the only gay guy on staff had me as his to-gift recipient, and he got me a John Cougar Mellancamp CD. I praised it (i may even have said "cool"), but i - thinking it too country at the time - shortly thereafter traded it in for a George Michael's "I want your sex" CD, to which my girlfriend and i shortly thereafter fooled around during, on a trip to her biological mom's house over a 3-hour trip by Greyhound. To wit: IRONY 101: A gay man gifted me an album i returned to buy an album by a gay guy who got me some action with my girlfriend. You can't make up this stuff!

Over a decade later, about 1998, I bought a Mellencamp CD and enjoyed it (in the aftermath of chill Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dave Matthews Band).

Mellancamp remains relevant: https://youtu.be/joNzRzZhR2Y

Her mom threw a muffin on the floor and van wrestled her step-dad for it.

No memory other than noting her mom had re-married a carpet salesman but lived in a lino-floored trailer/mobile home (nice enough but odd).

Always liked Mellencamp.  Lots of good tunes but this one sticks out as I am pretty sure I bought the 45 single.  Can't recall the b-side.

The difference between rock and pop, it's due to your generation:

This is pop (despite the opening cymbals): https://youtu.be/CvBfHwUxHIk
This is (hard) rock:

These Aussie brothers in Chicago have done well, but from the 1:30 minute mark it becomes increasingly apparent that the guy on the empty buckets owns the show.
