You seem like a reasonable person and your reasons for wanting to leave are perfectly understandable.  Too bad it didn't work out but at least you'll have a memorable experience to reflect upon and share with your family/friends back home.  Best of luck in your future endeavors.

Thank you so much! No need to be sorry, I am glad I did this and the experience like you said will be memorable for me. I can go back home and tell my friends and family "yeah, I lived and worked in Korea for a year."

This truly sucks. Sorry you had to experience small town hospitality in its worst form. Something is really wrong with some locals. You would of thought comments like these would be history by now. Good luck back in Texas. Have one of those giant steaks for me  ;D

Thank you so much! I wouldn't say the whole experience was bad, but it got exhausting. For small town folks, they have never seen a foreigner so it was a new thing for them. One thing I didn't like was I has to dress up just to go to the convenient store - when I dress well and comb my hair I am treated well. When it's sweat pants and a t-shirt with my tattoos showing, their attitude changed. LOL.

Korea's loss. I know I wouldn't have your patience or magnanimous attitude if Korean adults started randomly touching my beard. I feel a lot of people here have never had to face the immediate physical consequences of f***ing with a stranger that are a very real possibility in countries with a more individualist culture. If you walked down the street in my hometown touching strangers on the face.... we'll you would learn very quickly not to do that.

Also, take me with you.
Does your wife submit to you?

When I was assigned to my small countryside town, I went in knowing people will touch my beard because it's so rare and new to them. However, locals, people at my small farmers market, and restaurants kept touching my beard after they saw it the first time. When I shaved it off, they were so angry (my kids yelled "TEACHER WHY?")

Finish up your contract and meet up with me back in Texas!
