*Unless these are E-7 positions (or on offer only to F-visa holders), these jobs are ILLEGAL under immigration law

* Remember, this is as young as 3 years old and up to 6 years old in Western age. If you have no to little experience

* Exactly what waygo0k said. These jobs are illegal for E2 visa people. An E2 is only for teaching conversational English.
You will be fined and/or deported if immigration catch you. The hagwon owners will most likely BS you by saying you
are teaching science, music, social studies etc, in English.  Not the same as teaching conversational English. Be
careful! The Hagwon will not get in much trouble, but you will.

Weird question: why does an F visa make someone more qualified?

It doesn’t.

F-visa is a permanent resident visa (can also be a marriage visa). An F-visa where the holder is married to a Korean means that holder can work wherever they wish. An F-visa where the holder is married to another foreigner (who is also on a work visa) doesn’t grant that F-holder the right to work, they need to go and apply for special permissions from immigration)

Essentially, having the right kind of F visa just means the holder isn’t bound by E-2 restrictions. A loophole in the system.

The local education office will still want proof of your degree and your home criminal record check.  So, if you are married to a Korean and have no 4 year degree, you still can't work legally in a school.  But illegally, you won't be deported by immigration.
745sticky, Augustiner, Bakeacake, D.L.Orean, Lazio, Mithras, Renma, Rye are still blocked and I can't see them.

Minor correction and additions: F series are long term residency visas (F-5 is the permanent residency one). F2's, which most F holders who aren't Korean descended or married to a Korean have, need renewing/reassessing every 1-5 years (depending on how long the immigration worker decided to grant you on that particular day). With an F visa you can work the hours you choose and have more freedom. E-2 visas (the usual visa for English teachers) are tied to your job contract; they need renewing each year and if you quit, are fired or don't renew then your visa is in jeopardy.

That was true in the past, but now, unless one has a high income, it’s an automatic one year or less. Immigration officials are blocked from giving more than a year unless one is a high earner. Happened to me. Previously had five years. Hard to even get one full year now. Got to have substantial income. Disappointing to see the requirements going up.

Earning over three million a month, I couldn’t get more than a year because of my “low” income; in fact, I barely squeaked by for the one year. If requirements keep going up - and they have - soon I won’t be able to get even one year.

Ah yeah, I heard that had been happening, as well as people now having difficulty with their businesses. Shame they seem to be trying to push us out unless you earn 6 figures (9 figures). If you're on the F-2-7 they've put more emphasis on salary and you are losing points once you pass 35 years old too so it's an uphill battle.

So you can reach any subject you want on an F visa? You just need a degree from somewhere? Interesting... Can E-2 visa holders only teach English?

E-2 visa holders can only teach English conversation (officially). And they cannot teach any courses/programs that will lead to formal credits or qualifications.

So while E-2 visa holders can work in public, private and international schools...they can't teach ELA nor give formal grades that will lead (or contribute) to a school-leaving certificate.

F Visas can do any work they want, not just teaching. A good portion started their own business on it without issue, but visa rules were changed in Dec 2020 and business owners on F-2 visas suddenly got into trouble come renewal time. I think this is around the time they started capping renewals at 1 year as well (I thought it was still case by case but it seems to be across the board now).

Wow. I signed up to this board for some resources. I'm learning so much

It’s across the board now. Can’t even luck out by getting an immigration officer unaware of the new rule. Was about to get renewed for another five years, but the computer stopped that. Worker thought that strange, asked another person then said to me, “I’m sorry, the most I’m allowed to give you is one year.”

Just to expand waygo0k's point a bit: E-2 visas are for foreign language instructors, and they are permitted to teach *any* language, so long as they are conversational teachers.
My old school had a Chinese language E-2 teacher.

That is very true.

Should have clarified E-2 is for Language Conversation.

So if you wanted to teach, say IELTS writing, you would need a different visa?  :undecided:

That's one of those weird loopholes that immigration would probably look away from. IELTS writing would technically not be allowed under E-2 rules, but since it is done at hagwons for the most part and not taught in formal schools as a "national" curriculum (IGCSE, IB, AP etc)...immigration won't really come after someone for that.

If someone were teaching American Program High School English Literature or Language though (whether at a formal school or hagwon), and under an E-2 visa, they're possibly putting themselves in the crosshairs of immi.

Korean immigration are pragmatic when they need to be, but they can also be ultra dogmatic when it suits them.

F Visas can do any work they want, not just teaching.

But they still have to comply with the same regulations that Koreans have to comply with. And private education regulations are insane.
