This is wildly inappropriate! Religious propaganda has no place in the classroom!

Well that is your opinion, if you don't like it, then don't use it, no one is holding a gun to your head.

Sad that the real meaning of Christmas offends you.

The REAL meaning of Christmas is getting two sets of presents from your divorced parents. SAD that you have to bring religion into it....  :undecided:

So, because you had a bad experience that means everyone must have? I didn't bring religion into it, I merely pointed out the Christmas story and how it originated and it's meaning from a Christian point of view. Christianity and religion are two different things.

Anyway, I am not going to get into an argument with you over this lesson. If you don't like it, don't use it, simple.

I am not forcing you to use it, yet you want to force your opinion on everyone, hypocrite much.

Absolutely, religion is a lot of man made rules, Christianity is a personal relationship with God.

No, I am not anti-church, I attend one regularly, I am against any church that introduces man made rituals that are not in the Bible, so therefore I choose my churches carefully. Sadly there are many today that are in it for the money, namely the Prosperity Gospel preachers of many mega-churches.

Whats the Christmas like there?  No snow and boerewors instead of turkey?

BTW.  Some SAers did introduce me to that once.  Pretty good sausage.
Happy Teachers Day to New Orleans.

Maybe if your parents had more faith they wouldn't be divorced?  (And by the way, mine were as well.  The baby boomers screwed it up for everyone.  The WW2 generations and prior generations stayed together much more.  They were also more religious.)
Happy Teachers Day to New Orleans.

Yep no snow and a lot of people go caravanning that time of the years so boerewors is definitely on the menu. It is my favourite sausage of all time.

Been years since I had it.  I definitely want to get some again.  I think there was a place in Seoul that made it long ago and they ordered it.  Not sure about now.

It's called Braai Republic and I am pretty sure they are still around.

One of the upsides or downsides (depending on your point of view) of learning another language -- you have to learn the culture, too.

Whether you believe that Christmas is a religious occasion or one of many consumerist holidays the West celebrates, it is a fundamental part of all English-speaking cultures, and therefore is inevitably a subject that all English learners must study.

Its meaning is irrelevant to me, though, for I follow the way of the Aten.

Certain denominations
Can you elaborate on this?  :lipsrsealed:

Certain churches do things like saying that Mary is the same as Jesus and worship her and believe she can pray for people to God, when the Bible clearly states there is only one way to salvation and that is through Jesus.  So, that amounts to idol worship.

Other churches preach the 'Prosperity Gospel' where they clearly make their own rules about wealth. They say if you give your money to God you will become rich, totally against what the Bible says.

I don't want this to turn into a church/denomination bashing thread. I just posted my lesson, people are free to decide if they want to use it or not. I am not trying to convert anyone, I just gave the Christian perspective on the Christmas story, I have no intent to offend, those who believe in the Christian faith, well that's great but if you don't that is your choice. God gave us the freedom of choice, so you shouldn't feel threatened by this really basic PPT.
