On the surface, a very reasonable job offer for an E2. It's a shame that more are not in this range. It's amazing how a little more salary, adhering to legal obligations, and not expecting you to work long days, shines among all the rubbish that is usually on display.

It seems to me that many hagwons have raised their monthly tuition in the past few months, or will do so soon. English and all others too. This increase (ideally) shows up in the wages as well.
Perhaps some places would try to exclude the foreign teachers from this as long as they can.
A 10% or so pay increase could be the general move on the market in the near future.

Yeah, I mentioned back in early 2022 that we had to raise our fees. Not being a hagwon, I can absorb inflation a bit better but will have to do it again sometime next year, unless I get a huge influx of new students (won't hold my breath). All the places around my area, that I know of, have already done the same.

Just as an aside, one of my son-in-laws has a solid tiling business with a number of employees. He told me business, for the first time in 5 years was down in the home market...people aren't spending on renovations. He's not looking forward to 2023.

Yeah, I guess most households prioritize regular living expenses over spending on something that is not a necessity.
Also, renovations got very expensive over the past year or so. The weaker won makes the import of the already expensive construction materials even pricier. And there is the increase in labor costs too. People think twice to start a renovation project these days.
We had all the windows replaced in a 32 pyeong apartment for 6.5 million a bit over 3 years ago. This year, a friend of ours struggled to find a company to replace windows in a 23 pyeong apartment for a reasonable price. So my wife called the company that did ours and they quoted slightly over 10 million. Again, that is for a smaller apartment. And it was in April when the won was stronger. I imagine it would be even more expensive now. I guess it's similar in the tiling industry.
