Grades 3,4,5,6 Tests and Assessments
« on: April 28, 2010, 11:53:25 AM »
Does anybody know if the national curriculum books (grades 3,4,5,6) come with any tests that can be downloaded anywhere?

My school wants me to make tests for grades 3-6. If anyone has any resources, I'd appreciate it. :) Thanks!

I don't have any tests but you could check out some of the worksheets that I've made for each sixth grade lesson.  When I made tests, that's what I would  go off of.  You could also check out the Step and Jump curriculum for a little help.  This is material that the students should know already so it would be easy to make a test from those.  http://cge.ken.go.kr/skin/layout/sub_04/student1.asp  Good luck!

Have you asked a co-teacher? Mine seem to have access to listening tests that mirror the national exam questions. They may get them from the Korean indyschool site.

Our school bought us supplemental tests that are awesome...And are in Korean. If you can get a KT to translate, I'd be happy to scan them for you.

Gillod, that would be great. Translating is not a problem. Cheers.

They're available for every unit- I'll scan in the 3-6 ones every week starting this week. If you need them for any previous lessons, post here and I'll drop them in

Where could I find these? I'm at a loss as to what to do for practice exams.  Thanks

Here is the test I made up for lessons 1-6 5th grade and lessons 1-5 for 6th grade.  The listening part I got from this site
 (5th grade):
http://eng.itdream.co.kr/2002/5%ED%95%99%EB%85%84%EB%93%A3%EA%B8%B0%ED%8F%89%EA%B0%80.htm.

(6th grade)
http://eng.itdream.co.kr/2002/6%ED%95%99%EB%85%84%EB%93%A3%EA%B8%B0%ED%8F%89%EA%B0%80.htm

I cut and pasted about 12 questions total from lessons 1-6.  I don't have a scanner so I can't scan it through.

Hope this helps though.

This website has listening tests for each chapter of each grade in the old curriculum. I'm using them to practice for the end of the term tests.

Mid-Term Help!
« Reply #10 on: April 11, 2011, 03:06:09 PM »
So, today while I was working on some lessons, my co told me we would be having mid-terms this year. :o Last year we had no tests. I have never, in my life, created a test. I went searching on here for some help. But I wasn't able to find anything that could help me out.

I don't actually NEED a test, but some help with an outline or template would be really awesome.

I teach 5th and 6th graders. My  kids are pretty low  level. I was told that these tests should be used to help them prepare for the big test in July. We are actively testing them this year, as opposed to last year when we did nothing. We do spelling tests every lesson. It is the start of the year, but we have given tests during the second lesson. We don't want to "over test" them, but we still need to prepare them. Thus, mid-terms.

So any help would be much appreciated! Even if it just letting me know how to construct a test.

Our school is also implementing the midterm this year....

Check out this site. You can make the characters talk by typing text in the box. You can even type in foreign languages. I tried Japanese and Korean.

http://www.oddcast.com/home/demos/tts/tts_example.php?sitepa

I used it to record the dialogs and Korean instructions for the listening portion of the midterm. I've attached the script for the listening portion to give you an idea.

As for the writing section, there are about 20 questions. Half of the questions come from lessons 1-3 and the other half are from the review in the beginning of the book covering the 5th grade material. You can make good test questions by checking out the "Let's Write" section of each lesson since that's what the test questions usually look like. However, a lot of the time the answer choices are in Korean, especially if you have low level students it would be quite difficult for everything to be in English.

Unfortunately, I don't have a copy to the written portion of the test on this computer. I am surprised your co-teacher isn't making it? It requires a good bit of Korean to make these midterms, directions/answer choices etc.

Anyways, I hope that helps. Good luck.

It's a good idea to use English as much as possible in English class, and things like 이름, 학년, 방 / 번 can just as easily be written in English.
In Korea from 2005 - 2010, not in Korea now.  Please contact an active moderator for quick answers to your questions.

Thank you so much! I think my teacher just wanted some ideas on how to make the test. It is her first year as an English teacher. I figure we will have a four part test: listening, reading, writing and speaking.

I think I will go with 20-25 questions and try to come up with a way to do a speaking test.

But again, thanks for the help. I will look at what you posted.
