I'm been looking over this chapter and I'm struggling a little bit on how to teach this. I wish I could have combined it with Lesson 4 Happy B-Day but my co-teacher wouldn't allow it. Does anyone have some suggestions? Thanks!

I've already done 1차시 through 3차시 for this lesson. Essentially, lesson 6 is a review of what they should have learned in the previous lessons, "What's This?" and "Happy Birthday". During the first period of this lesson, my co-teacher and I watched the dialogues with them, and we use "Power Teaching" when they are answering. Basically, I ask the question, then the students confer within their groups before coming up with an answer. Points are awarded to teams, not individuals. For our activity in the first period, we played the "Please Game".
How to play: (It's essentially "Simon Says").
1. If the teacher says the imperative sentence without "please", students don't act.
2. If the teacher says the imperative sentence with "please", the students act.
In the second period, we used the "What's This?" song from
icnelly
and played the "Speed Game". The phrases we used were, "Very good./Sit down, please./Stand up, please./Close your eyes, please./Open it./Come here, please./Happy birthday./This is for you." I only required six half-sheets of paper with two of the phrases printed on it for the game.
How to play:
1. Preparation. The students should practice in their teams how they might act out the phrases.
2. One student from each team chooses a paper with two phrases.
3. The student must act out the phrases for the other students on their team to guess within a short period of time. (I use a stopwatch to time them, and write the results on the board.)
And for 3차시, we mostly reviewed what we had learned in the previous two lessons. We re-viewed the dialogues from both 1차시 and 2차시. The activity which we played is based in both pronunciation and memorization drills. It's called, "This is a Ball." The dialogue that they had to memorize was:
A: "This is for you."
B: "What's this?"
A: "A ball."
B: "What's this?"
A: "A ball."
B: "Oh, thank you."
How to play:
1. Preparation: Students are given time in their teams to practice the pattern of the dialogue.
2. One team at a time comes to the front of the room and arranges themselves in a line.
3. The first student starts as A, with the student behind them as B. When they've completed the dialogue, the pass the ball and the student who was B is now A, and the person behind them is B. They should continue until they've reached the end of the line.
4. The teams are timed with a stopwatch and their times are posted on the board.
I hope this helps. It worked really well in my classes.

Hi Everyone
I often struggle to work out what the pictures mean in these books - do you know where I can find out what they are?
In this case though, I'm wondering about G3 Lesson 6 - I've got 'Come here please', 'Open it', ???, 'Happy Birthday', 'This is for you' and ???
I hope someone can enlighten me!
Thanks!

The first picture is "Very good, Mina" and the third is "Come here please." with the old lady. I don't know about the sixth card. My co-teacher also had no idea when I had her look at the picture.

I didn't even know I was supposed to teach phrases in that chapter! The joy of trying to teach online without an English Teacher's guide for the new chapters and a co-teacher that's afraid to speak to me!

If you look on the CD, click the 3rd icon (stack of papers) then the first icon (person) you will get a list of resources for each chapter. Click the first icon for lesson 6 and you will see the cards. The first 8 are the ones from lesson 5 but scroll down and there are more.
From the book
Very good - Open It
Come here - Happy Birthday
This is for you - x
The last one doesn't feature on the CD and having watched all the videos and materials from the chapter it doesn't fit any of the language, so I think it's just a filler. I guess you could claim it is 'school' or 'go to school' but that'd just be to give it a meaning so as not to throw it away.

Here's a board game I made. Students take turns rolling and then say and do the action.
In order:
Touch your ears.
Wash your hands.
Open your eyes.
Touch your nose.
Touch your shoulders.
Close your eyes.
Sit down, please.
Touch your toes.
Stand up, please.
Touch your mouth.
Look at your hands.
Open your mouth.
Wash your face.
Brush your teeth.
Close your mouth.

Other than that board game, I haven't added too much to what's in the lesson plans in the text book. We always have a 10-12 minute morning routine of a song, talking about what we did yesterday and TPR but after that, the material in the book is close to 25 minutes for me at least. The games in the book for this chapter take up a bit of time because you spend a few minutes reviewing the cards, explaining the game and then playing.
The only other idea I can offer is doing the chants every day and then changing the lyrics. For example, "What other gifts can we give people?" And then use their ideas to replace "chocolate" and "book" mentioned in the chant. You can do the chant quite a few times but keep it from getting stale and boring to the kids.

I Am Ground game. Your students will know it. Just make a PPT with the key sentences you want them to practice, I usually do 7 sentences for a game. It's a rhythm game. They pat their legs, clap their hands, then do one thumb out, the other thumb out (4 beats total) and they say "I am Ground." Then the next 4 beats, same thing but they say something in Korean "Yama Yama, haggi" or something. They'll know what to say.
It works great for any class size. If you've got lots of students, like me, just do it by their table/group. Each group says a sentence. If a group misses the sentence, they lose a point, then you just keep starting over. You can have them speed up or slow down. Telling ya, they love this game. Here's an example of key sentences I used:
Happy Birthday!
This is for you.
What's this?
It's a present.
Open it.
Thank you.
You're welcome.
If you've got fewer students, you can stand them up in a line/circle and have one student start the game with one sentence, then they take turns. If a student misses a sentence, he's out. Keep going until one student is left then you can start again. This is a good game if your sentences are short enough.

Here are my 'lesson plans' / materials for this unit. Sorry the lesson plans aren't in a very good format, my school is happy for me to just have them as notes for myself.
Sorry for any duplication of materials borrowed from other people on waygook, and thanks for originally posting them!
