Here are some files for Lesson 6.

To play the 7-up game, choose 6 students to be "it". They have 1 minute to walk around and touch the thumbs of their peers.
After 1 minute, the students who had their thumbs touched will then stand up.
At this point the "it" students will be at the front of the class. Each "it" student will be holding a sentence printed on a piece of paper (see attached file).
The students will guess who they think touched their thumb by reading the sentence a particular "it" person is holding. For example "Let's go hiking."
If the guess is correct, the student holding the let’s go hiking card will respond "sure, sounds good!" and the students will trade places.
If the guess is incorrect, the student holding the let’s go hiking card will respond "Sorry, I can't."

A very simple introduction to the vocabulary using the pictures from the back of the student book.  I have added the key expressions.

Thanks for the pointing out the problem kanpekilove. I took it off until I could fix it.  I have put the PPT back.   It's good for 4-6.1.  It uses the pictures from the back of the student book.

Thank you so much for your PPT!!! It is so helpful! I was working on my PPT, and wasn't sure where to get good, clear pictures for the kids. You have been such a great help!

As for the Connect Four game, can you explain to me how you can differentiate between the two teams? The  balls are all blue, so I don't know how you can tell one team from another to know who the winner is.

Thanks again!

(P.S. The slide for Hiking says "Let's go CAMPING." Remember to edit it before you use it!)

Supriendly!

It's another Treasure Hunt (Battleships) Game ready for next week. The version enclosed in the PDF below has a bit of a twist to it: specifically, if they don't find anything (indicated by "Sorry, I can't" vs "Sounds good.") then they get a second chance to search within the same column (ie, propose a new date/time). I worry the dialogue is a bit long but it matches the video on the CD and we've many high level students. For the lower level ones, I'll just go around and blank out the "How about []?" step with a marker and keep regular battleships rules.

If your students don't know the rules already, Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) and just white out a chunk of the dialogue before running it through the copier.

Have a nice weekend!

My kids are still on the previous lesson, but this material can be adapted for any lesson. Since Father's day is on sunday, my kids will be making father's day 'credit cards'.  If you're ahead in the book or want to do this as a second activity, I've attached the template for the cards below. The idea (found it on another site, so can't take all the credit) is that students will make a credit card sized piece of artwork for their dad that he can add to his wallet and keep as a momento. On one side I wrote "happy father's day" (or rather I left it blank so the kids could write it in English to impress/practice writing to their dad. On the other side, I'm going to tell them to draw whatever they want that they think their dad would like, ie hobbies which will make it perfect for the 'let's go hiking' theme. My co and I made a couple ourselves for examples.  If you've got higher levels, have them write a little more like 'Let's go ____ on Father's day!" if you want.

hope it's useful to some of you

Sorry guys,

Someone pointed out that there is a potentially embarrassing picture in the “Heads up 7 Up” file I posted earlier— particularly the thumbs down pic o_o

If you have the old version please delete and use the new one I just posted!

The "7Up" game worked really well with my kids!  They loved it!  Thanks, again, for the idea and posts   :)

As a short and fun intro for this lesson, I showed my kids this video; they got some good laughs out of it. Hopefully your students will enjoy it as much as mine   ;)

Its so funny because I told my co-teacher about heads up 7 up and next thing I knew she made it applicable to english. Funny how we all bring our childhood games to our classroom. Thanks for the PPT, I didnt have to time create rules.

Here's a connect 4 game I have made.
Incase you don't know the game: Working in pairs the students have a color pen each and decide who will be 1 and 2 by playing rock, scissor, paper. Then number one chooses a square and marks an 0 (or one played can be 0 and one can be X instead of colors) and says the expression: I have ____ _____s. Then number 2 has their turn and choose a square, saying the correct expression. The winner is the student who can get 4 in a row, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They can try and stop their partner getting this by blocking their path.

Thanks for the pictures from the book, very helpful.

I have created this powerpoint to give the students a chance to practice each sentence.
