This is for the book with the real heads and cartoon bodies, Lesson 7. Do You Like Apples?

There is an intro PPT and a gostbusters pictures game.

How does this get linked to the correct thread? The header was not blue and I had to stick this here.

Here are some of my materials:

Puzzle - click and slides move away to reveal pictures of food
Sentence Review and Bomb Game - very cute - uses old book's characters but the kids wouldn't know the difference.. I'm not changing it for my school.
Hungry Caterpillar - this was a huge hit last year, especially the munching sounds.

Here's a game I adapted for this lesson, made by another poster.

I used this video instead of Story B. The kids enjoyed it-they seem to like just about anything that's not the text book. I only showed from 1 minute to about 1:40.

Practice ppt.  I followed it up with a game of pictionary: 2 teams, each team takes turns sending a student up to pick a picture out of a cup (you can use the word doc I attached for the pictures).  Then they have to draw that food and their team guesses by saying, "Do you like x?" to which the student up front says, "Yes, I do," or "No, I don't," depending on what they're drawing.  It was a little easier for them than I expected, but still good fun.

After that, they played a board game I made from one of those online board game makers: http://www.toolsforeducators.com/boardgames/

ETA: Oh yeah, my picture's in that powerpoint.  Don't forget to put yourself in there instead.  =Þ

Here's an intro ppt with all the vocab and key phrases.  I also cut out the pictures of the different foods for a racing game I plan to play.  I'll divide the class in half and one player at a time will listen to me say the sentence "I like _____ or I don't like ____."  They then race to their basket and try to find the correct picture first.  Once they find the picture they need to set it in another basket next to either the "I like" picture or the "I don't like" picture.  The team with the most correct pictures wins.  I really don't think this game will be too hard and my classes will likely tie (but I like that.).  All the pics I used for this game are in the ppt.

@Sweet_Potato

thanks much for the hungry caterpillar ppt. i used the book as the basis for our last english festival at my school and now the kids persistently ask if there will be a hungry caterpillar game or story or powerpoint or whatever. this will rock my after-school class' world.

Here's 2 fabulous alternatives to the chant/song parts of the lesson:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtLwSMivm2s&feature=related

I don't know why but my 3rd graders went MAD for the I love chicken song.  :D

It uses "What's this? This is ____." as well as using the TL for this unit. PERFECT!

Here is an activity where the students cut out labeled pictures of the food mentioned in the chapter and paste them either on the "I like" or "I don't like" side to make a kind of book.

Here is an introduction ppt.  Practices food such as: chicken, pizza, and so on...includes the phrases I like ____ and I don't like ____.  ;)

Here is 7.3 of a review.  Practices everything of key expressions and more.  I think the pictures in this ppt are more exciting and funny.  It reviews earlier vocabulary such as apples, sandwiches.  Enjoy as always.  I will also be including the Simpsons Donut Game.

Thanks to canuck_in_korea for correcting the Korean errors.  Not fluent in Korean so sometimes I sound things out without realizing that they are wrong, my bad everyone!  I changed the errors.

One-sided multiple choice worksheet similar to the mid-terms and exams at my school. Tests students' ability to respond to target language appropriately. I recommend pairing it with a word search or similar generic worksheet.
