How did they do with this lesson?

I thought it looked fairly complicated, no matter what English level you're dealing with. I would have no idea how to describe what a DB actually does so that it makes sense to them.

That being said, I do plan on showing my class Remember the Titans to introduce a bit of football and the idea of racism into class.. it's also a Disney feel good movie so it'll likely work out well.

Here's a similar, very very simplified football ppt I used during Super Bowl season 2010.  Instead of doing a whole lesson, though, we made football into the game used at the end of a 6th grade class.

We made a football field out of cardboard and used a printout of a football.  Divide the class into two teams, then ask questions to each team.  If the team gets it right, they move forward 10 yards.  If wrong, they move back 10 yards. 

Sam Ryans in Itaewon always shows reruns the day after. It's fun to go up on Monday night and watch your team play. If you avoid the internet, you can have a real "Monday Night Football" experience. Pretty fun, usually a lot of foreigners there during the season.
