Students' Top 5 game
«

I took this idea from another thread for teaching adults. My after-school students love this game, and allowing them to basically dictate the answers was great. They went nuts. You could presumably do this with larger groups, but it would be a lot of work.
I spent one day allowing the students to complete the survey, then I tallied their answers and just edited the categories (double click on the answer to change the text). There are some teacher / city specific questions and answers that you'll have to change, but everything else is self-explanatory.

Yeah looks great! I'm going to use it soon :D
Word of warning, there is a "Words to describe Jason" and "top 5 places in Ulsan". If your name is not Jason or if you don't teach in Ulsan you might want to change that
Thanks again.

I surveyed both of my after-school classes. There were 30 students, and I work at an all-girls middle school.

The Top 5 game is very popular. I guess every teacher has their own way of playing it.
My preference for the top 5 game is to base it on facts. I thought the original was great but having a category like "days of the week" and having Thursday or whatever as a top answer seemed silly to me.
Anyway here are my categories.
I should say that I carry an A-4 sheet with the answers and keep it near me while the students are guessing.

This game looks really fun, I want to play it with my after school class.
I don't understand how to play though, can someone please tell me the instructions.
Thanks!

Different people play different ways. Myself - I put them into groups and simply have them guess in turns.
The top answer gets 5 points, second top 4 and so on and so forth.

I think this needs a bump now that our students are through with their exams but still not in the mood for study. ;)

Wow. Students hate a teaching that just translating a language to another.
Your teaching material has helped me give motivation to my students. Thanks.

I want to call attention to this game. If you haven't tried it then you should because it is a lot of fun.
Also I think I want to bump this because it would be awesome if people could add more categories i.e. their own top 5s. Stuff like bloodiest wars, most educated countries etc. It takes time to do the research but that is what waygook is for. Teachers helping teachers.

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy this activity and I think my students will too. I want to incorporate the survey portion into my lessons next year.

I have another one with different categories.
This hasn't been addressed at all in the thread, but there are several grammatical errors in the slides, most notably the use of "chose" instead of "choose."
