(Cameron Wood) Grade 3, Lesson 7 - "How Many Puppies?"
« on: March 11, 2011, 10:30:11 AM »
flashcards, introduction, a musical chairs game and a cartoon Gogo video.

I've also attached a hidden puzzle game, which isn't mine. Thanks to "wretchard". It doesn't cover "how many" but would be useful as a quick wam-up at the start of the lesson to revise animals.

A story:

I used this story for lesson 7 "How many puppies". After the story I ask simple questions. I tell the story with gusto. The PPT I made has sound effects and everything you need.  I believe in "educating" not only "teaching".  That's why there is a "moral" to the story.

1 crossword worksheet
2 Numbers word search
I am going to write the English numbers out in full on the board and have them fill them in on the worksheets since I think the spelling will be too advanced for my students.

This song is from the old textbook but the "How many ..." is the same.  My kids LOVED this song.   :D

The second is a powerpoint guessing game  It's simple but the kids loved to guess how many of each animal I had before I showed the next slide.

The Mario bomb was a great success!!! :) My babies LOVED the game. ESpecially because they were all familiar with Mario, and the fact that they could blast points, gain points or lose all points!

Kuddos.

Unit 7: "How Many Puppies"

In this post I have included 3 assets for Unit 7. These are not meant to be used at the same time. I would recommend that these are used, one handout per lesson.

Asset #1: "How Many Puppies?" 1 (This can be used in the first or second lesson). It's quite simple handout, I don't think any instructions are necessary.

Asset #2: "How Many Puppies?" 2 (This should be used in the third or fourth lesson) as an expression builder, but it is up to you. I have used this as a homework assignment and/or as a filler. When I was designing this, I was nervous that it would be too hard, but my grade three students had no trouble with it. They finished it in no time.

Asset #3: "How Many Puppies" (This can be used before or after the role play activity in the unit). I have used this after the role play as an expression review. My students found this to be easy, so I don't think you should worry about it being too difficult.

GRADE 3 2011, Cameron Wood textbook - MATERIALS SET
« Reply #10 on: September 11, 2012, 03:33:58 PM »
I always start a new lesson with a fun song. My students love the "How Many?" song! I could not upload it on here however so here's the link to it:

Then I would introduce new words with the New Words PPT made myself. (You can edit it however you wish ^^)

The alphabet flashcards are used in the reading and writing section (Period 4) When the students will learn the alphabets. I found looking for premade cards is impossible so I made these myself too. Hope it can help you with your lesson materials hunting!!
