Golden bell quiz for middle school or high school
« on: June 16, 2011, 08:32:47 AM »
Hey, I've made a Golden bell quiz for my school's English festival There are about 55 questions and a tie breaker at the end. It did have a nice video intro but I had to cut that to reduce the file size.

It's divided into 7 rounds: easy true or false, flag quiz, difficult true or false, spelling, write the answer, riddles and tie break.

I designed it for middle school, but it's pretty tough so you could easily use it for high school. You should probably make it a bit easier if you use it for middle school, I was stung by criticism that last year's quiz was too easy.

Hope its useful to someone.

P.S. I haven't tested the 97-2003 version, there were some things lost when saving to that format so you'll need to check was does and doesn't work with it.

Thank you, this is just what I need for my post exam classes at the end of the month. Some great questions there, a few of which I will make a little easier for my middle schoolers.

Sorry to be ignorant about this, but what is Golden Bell exactly? I'm not familiar with it. Maybe you can say how you run this game in the class in order to be like the T.V. show? I like the questions and the PPT looks nice, I'd just like to use it correctly.

Thanks.

Golden Bell is a game where all your students are initially "in" then all students answers the first question...the ones that are right move on to the next question and then the ones that are wrong are "out" and you keep going until the end....there is also a different style where you go by rounds and then like the ones with the most correct at the end win (this way you keep all students answering all questions until the end)

The first way is how the actual tv show is played, the second is a modified version a lot of teachers use in class

The kids are mostly pretty good at flags IME, I thought the New Zealand/Australia one was really tough but everyone got it.

Ya Golden Bell is a Korean TV show where there are students who answer questions and pretty much what dolphin girl said. I don't have a tv here so I have never watched that show but was explained by my co-teacher as we are doing the Golden Bell game show as well with my first and second graders at my middle school. Thanks for sharing your questions.

Allan, what problem are you having exactly and what version of powerpoint are you using? If you have troubles with the pptx file try the 97-2003 version. I just tried downloading and the file worked fine so I need to know exactly what problem you're having.

Hey all,

I adapted the original powerpoint to suit my classes, all credit goes to OP for the template.

Hope this can help someone else from the dreaded apathy of November ???

According to the Holy Grail that is wikipedia, yes they are  :D

Feel free to change it, and apologies if Wikipedia has led me astray ( it won't be the first and doubt it will be the last)

Off to do more battle with post-exam maniacs they call students over here!

This is a great template, and a great way to structure a goldenbell.
