(2010 National) Grade 3 - Review
« on: June 24, 2010, 01:36:05 pm »
This is a review PPT for 3rd grade to review for the Korea wide English test on June 30th (Lessons 4-7).  It took about 20-25 minutes of classtime and was a big help! :)

I found this review for 3rd grade on Media Fire, I don't know who the original creator is.  I modified it, and I made a "student handout" to go with it.

I am just assuming the Korean is correct...

For the student handout, I just printed it on handout mode with 6 to page, and will have them answer questions as we go through it.

I will probably make it a "game" (sly trick) by having them spin a spinner for points if they get the answers right.

(I just updated the power points, there was a korean error in one and I made the hand out a litlte easier.)

This is cool - but just for others thinking of downloading, I'd say that some of the vocabulary is actually 4th grade curriculum.  If you're 3rd graders are anything like mine, they wouldn't know some of this.

Would definitely use it for a 4th grade review though  :)

Made this from the template.  I don't think the shoes disappear from the second round, and I'm not sure how to fix it.

I haven't played it yet, so I hope everything works ok!

My kids adore the Ghostbusters game (I hear "ooo-ooo-oooo-oooo" sounds in the hall), so I made this review game using the Ghostbusters bombs template.  We re-ordered lessons 13 and 15, so lesson 13 is not covered.

I modified someone else's Mario Powerpoint Game to make this Third Grade Review game for Chapters 11-15.  The kids loved it and did pretty well.

3rd Grade, 2nd Semester Baseball Review PPT
« Reply #16 on: February 09, 2011, 09:58:35 am »
This is a powerpoint review game for 3rd grade, lessons 10, 12, 14, and 16. I only covered even lessons because this is for a class I have with one of my co-teachers who teaches only even lessons.

-Divide the class into two teams.
-Draw a baseball diamond on the board. Use magnets or cut-outs to indicate players on base.
-There are single, double, triple, and home run questions. One student from each team comes "to bat" (choose and answer a question) and can not have help from his/her team. If the student gets the answer correct, he/she advances the appropriate number of bases, just like in baseball. If there are other players on base, they also advance. If the student answers incorrectly, click the red X and that student is "out."
-3 outs mean you can switch to the other team and the bases are cleared. You can continue with the same questions page or click on "Next Team." There's also a round two if you get to that point.
-Try to keep a batting order by choosing students from their seating assignment. This way all students can participate and the smartest kid doesn't always hit a home run when the bases are loaded.

Warning: the links are a little sensitive because I'm far from a PPT genius so please be careful when clicking the alphabet letters on the questions page. Make sure your mouse is right on top of the letter and the pointy finger mouse icon comes up BEFORE you click!

I've also attached a review PPT that you can use with the students before playing the baseball game.

I'm planning to use this tomorrow so the third graders can jog their memory and feel good about what they learned last year. Hopefully I don't get blank stares.

Oh yeah, and my students are low level...as in very, very basic. This might be too easy for your 3rd graders. You can always change the questions to be appropriate.

GRADE 3: GOLDEN BELL REVIEW Lessons 1-16
« Reply #18 on: February 11, 2011, 10:17:25 am »
As promised, the Golden Bell review for Grade 3. It covers the whole book and I think most levels can work through all the questions. You'll have to read many of the answer choices though, since their reading level may not be high enough yet.

Couple of things:

Questions 3 and 16: They're O or X questions, and I delayed the right answers so you can give them a chance to correct the mistakes.

Question 22: The correct answer is also delayed so that they have a chance to say the correct command for answer choice C.

Question 24: The students should ask you, "What time is it?" and you'll answer with a time other than 12:00, since the answer for the question is X. Then you can ask the class for the correct time.

Question 26: Once they choose the correct letter, ask them how to say it in Korean, since the Korean translation will show after the answer.

I thought the Golden Bell question was a little easy, so you should change it if you want it to be more difficult for your students. My Golden Bell review was based on how many questions you got correct, not on whether or not you're the last student remaining. That way it keeps everyone involved until the end.

Hope you can make use of the review!

THanks a lot. I wish I had found this earlier in the day. I can still use it for next week though.

Here's a simple typhoon game that covers grade 3.
