Here's a powerpoint I've done which teaches most of the terms/words etc used in football (or soccer if you're that way inclined). I haven't thought of an acitvity to do after yet, though going through each picture and letting the kids try and guess the word will take most of the lesson anyway and after that, at this stage of the year, the kids dont want to do any work anyway. I was thinking i might do a 'what happened next' thing with all the comedy football clips on youtube, but any ideas are welcomed. Its a pretty straightforward ppt but should hopefully stop the kids saying how park ji sung 'made a goal'. Oh yeah, this will probably only work on boys as well.
Also, before anyone comments, I am aware that the goal line is officially the whole line at the back but when did you last hear a commentater say 'he gets to the goal line'.
I'm also aware for the extremely pedantic nitpickers out there, that the 'Score a goal' (61) slide is in fact frank lampards disallowed goal in the world cup, as if that the ref couldnt see that over the line!
one final thing, slide 64, for all you Man U fans out there, you remember....

It might be beneficial to include more korean players, not that my kids dont love european soccer...

Hello there, just got to Korea, teaching in an all boys middle school and they have all told me they love the english premier league. Trouble is, i have no idea about football. Thinking about doing this lesson but if you guys have any ideas that i could use in the classroom that would be much appreciated. :D
Thanks in anticipation,
Katie

This would be great for my kids as so many of them come in saying "We're soccer players," as if they're not expected to do any work. Thank you!

Thanks David85 for your lesson
!! I used a lot of your slides, changed some pictures and added some of my own slides. Im planning on using this for one day of my summer camp. I will go through the vocabulary, put the students into teams, and they will make team names, a team flag and a team cheer. Then as its camp we will go out to play a match!. Slide 1. 55 and 60 have hyperlinks.

Going to use this for my super low level high school boys winter camp. They love football, I know nothing about it, so everybody is learning. Cheers for the ppt!

After presenting the original ppt for my summer camp, I took the original ppt file and stripped it down to only the select 40 words that my students really had no idea about (call it "market research," what have you). The ppt file I have attached to this message has all of the real obvious words completely removed (e.g. goalie, penalty kick, referee, etc. etc.) and only the most difficult words have remained (e.g. right back, defender, center spot, kick off, corner flag, 6 yard box).
This should make the overall presentation shorter and more focused for your
high
school
male
students.
Best of luck!
