I was teaching American manners with my extra class and used this. They had to order as if in a restaurant I used real food that day

Here are two word searches I made for my restaurant class.

There is one for Fast Food and one for Restaurant menu items.

I hope the kids enjoy it! Just remember to teach them that words can be spelled backwards in the word search and placed diagonally. This should get them to quiet down (hopefully)!

Here's a waiter list doc I made for my students.
I provide the dialogue for the students to follow and give them food options. It's fun if you have realia to play with.
I have 2-4 students play the customer them take the order down then repeat the list to the customers.

This lesson has basic information about restaurants. There are also 3 menus ( fast food, casual dining, fine dining) There are scripts to go with each type of restaurant.

This is by no means complete. I want some kind of game. I am planning on making them plan menus, probably in small groups but I'm indecisive on the details.

This is for my after-school two period class of mostly 6th graders. Straight forward ppt on the jobs in the restaurant and the culture of it. I worked in a restaurant in New York for 5 years and foreigners, particularly Koreans, are largely considered bad news by the waitstaff because they tend to come off as rude and poor to 0 tippers so I sort of wanted to stress that it's serious business.

We were studying food in my grade 5 class and did this fun 'voiceover /dubbing' lesson that the kids loved, I would use it for older levels too:http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2014/05/dubbingvoice-overs-amazing-way-to.html

I also have these cool templates that are food shaped if you wanted to have a fun template to write in creative dialogues:http://mrsbaiasclassroom.blogspot.kr/2014/05/topic-food-glorious-food-project-idea.html

We've also done cooking lesson if you move on to cooking vocabulary also:

Happy Teaching!

I had more time to plan today so here is an updated version of the menu and one of the ppts above that I altered for my class. I went over the ppt and practiced the dialogue.
We turned the classroom into a restaurant and assigned four students to be waiters/waitresses. Whichever waiter/waitress could talk with their customers (classmates), write down their orders, and turn in the orders to chef (me) the fastest won a prize. We followed this activity with wordsearch (posted above) and bingo.
