This is my middle school english level 1 lesson 4 on the present progressive
Warm up - I started class by reviewing "What is this?" from last class. I first made sure they understood the difference between 'a/an' and multiple nouns. I then showed them silhouettes of different things they learned in my class in the past.
Engage - I first reviewed the basic formula of the present progressive sentence. Then I showed them pictures of people multitasking while on the phone as practice.
Study - Give students a moment to come up with as many verbs related to the different places on the worksheet (this will be used after for a game).
Activate - Play a game where students use the verbs they just wrote on their worksheet. Break the class into 4 groups. Show students a picture of a different place, and students must say what they are doing in that place. Each group has 5 second. One student must put up their hand and create a full sentence using a verb that hasn't been already stated. If a group reuses a verb then they are out. Last team standing wins the round.
Study - Students do the second part of their worksheet by writing verbs that go with the nouns.
Closing - Charades (you know it)
(note: the presentation is for keynote but I can post it in ppt. if you need it)
