Diablo III: The English Game (blank template)
« on: June 29, 2011, 11:04:04 AM »
Edit (12-15-11): I have added a significantly improved and redesigned version of my original Diablo III template, with a "monster fighting" option. Instead of a linear straight sequence format, the questions are now linked to a grid just like a typical bomb game-style activity.  Oh, and suffice to say, I'm staying away from the actual Diablo III release given Activision Blizzard's recent business and design decisions for Diablo III.

"Fool! You have just ensured the doom of this world. You cannot even begin to imagine what you've set in motion this day. Go to the Temple of Light, in the eastern ciry of Kurast. There you will find the gate to Hell opened before you. You must find the courage to step through that gate Marius. Take the stone you hold to the Hellforge, where it will be destroyed. Now run! Take the stone and run!"
- The Archangel Tyrael

After defeating Diablo's legions of Hellspawn under the now-ruined town of Tristram, and your journey to the East to confront the wicked minions of Mephisto, and his brother Baal, you decided to settle down and get take a job teaching children in a quiet village. But not even battling the demonic hoards of The Prime Evils could have prepared you for your greatest challenge yet: teaching ESL to Korean elementary children...

This is a game template based on Blizzard's upcoming and hotly anticipated cRPG, Diablo III, made using Blizzard's generous and fantastic Diablo III fansite kit, available here: http://us.blizzard.com/diablo3/media/ As with my earlier Starcraft II game, this is a "pseudo-bomb" game with three branching points. Simply insert your own questions and answers in the supplied text boxes. This file was created using PowerPoint:Mac 2011.

Legalese: all trademarks and copyrighted material remain the property of their respective rightsholders. Special thanks to Blizzard and the Diablo III team for their generous contribution to the fan community. When it comes out, please buy Diablo III. It's going to kick serious ass, and it's going to be really, really good (unlike Duke Nukem Forever).

I can't figure out how to play this game.

Somehow there are teams, but do they just take turns answering the questions? ...in order...

I downloaded your finished 6th grade lesson 8 activity for this class, but I still can't figure it out.

There is no interactivity beyond the first selection of character...

Can you give us some instructions?

I'm sorry that I didn't provide adequate documentation, but here's a general plan for what I had in mind:

Beyond the selection screen (The "Choose Your Adventure" slide in the D3 game, and the "Choose Your Mission" slide in the SC2 game) each path is a *linear* sequence of questions (e.g. there's no random selection like in a traditional bomb game). For each game, there are three paths, each with 10 questions each, with a hyperlink back to the selection screen. Ideally, my intention would be that each path would have a theme (e.g. Mission A would be writing questions, Mission B would be speaking questions, and so on).

The way it works is that each team takes a turn answering a question. (Team A takes question 1, team B takes question 2, etc.) If a team doesn't get their question right or can't answer within around 5-15 seconds, it goes to the next team, and they get a chance to answer. It's not a random distribution of the questions by any means, but it's the best way so far that I've found to make the game interesting and fair.
