My rural school is at this lesson already and I only do comm task and games with them... so here's my ppt... it's a basic review
of opening/closing times, things that you may/may not do - students just give the answers.

Then an activity:
After the comm task, students (in groups) must make their own restaurant/gallery/museum etc and make a poster for it.  It
must include the name, pictures, opening hours, admission fee and something that is either allowed or prohibited.
After making the poster I'll have the groups ask each other questions (like the comm task dialog).

veeeery basic ppt... :)

Here is my ppt.
It's a mix of the wonderful work of Castielle and strawberry
But altered and with an extra bit on manners for a little culture discussion.

Like being considerate - not slurping, not spitting, ladies first.

This is the game I used with this lesson. It focuses only on the "opening hours" part of the lesson. Hope it helps!

Hey everyone! I thought I'd post my Lucky Wheel game for this lesson. I used the amazing Rufus's template, but made up my own questions. Feel free to use this or make any changes.

I thought a good video warm-up for this lesson is Nice Guys by Kevjumba on Youtube (the second vid if you type "Nice guys"). I have a short explanation of some of the rude things he does in the video in the beginning. My PPT is mostly about being polite and asking for opening hours, yes you may, no you may not, etc. In the end, I have an activity where I read some information from the slide and the students quickly tell me True or False.

My kids always love the wheel games.  But I'm getting a 'no text converter' error for this  game...anyone know what I should do?

lol sorry I was too lazy to explain it, but I will now. Note: for me, two students sit at one desk.

Materials: 20 strips of paper in a bag ("No, you may not," written on 10 of them "Yes you may," written on the other 10).  A cat (or a ball, or any stuff animal), the ppt.

1. Pass the cat. I face the board while they pass the cat around. When I turn around, the desk with the cats is chosen.

2. The chosen students have to play rock, paper, scissors.

3. The loser picks a chicken (from the board) and the winner picks a piece of paper from a bag.

4. The loser reads the "question" and the winner reads the "answer." This will generate a conversation where the loser will ask for permission to do something, and the winner will either grant it or reject it.

5. If the winner gives the loser permission, the loser has to do that task.

For example, if the conversation goes like this:
Loser: May I slap you in the face?
Winner: Yes, you may.

The loser has to slap the winner in the face.

Hope that's clear!

Hi!  Yeah, i just bought them myself.  I had them work in groups of two (cheaper!).  The posters I bought at the local supermarket - they were like 1000 won for 10 or 15 A3 size posters if I remember correctly.  I only gave them coloring pencils.  I bought them from the stationery shop for CHEAP! I think they were about 2000 each (they are mini size, so half the size of the normal twisty type color pens)   I also only have about 12 packs of them, so I also give them out one pack per group.  I have had them since the beginning of the year.  I keep them in a small box, so if I need them for activities I just take the box to class.  Middle school students hardly ever have (or will bring) their own coloring pens.  At least not in my school :P
