Typhoon powerpoint game (awesome version)
« on: September 13, 2010, 06:01:26 PM »
Hello everyone, I couldn't find any existing Typhoon powerpoint games that were to my liking so I made one myself that looks aesthetically pleasing to me. The typhoon in my game only deletes 50 points from any other team, and also I've added a Lightning symbol, where the team who gets the Lightning gets 20 points and all other teams lose 20 points.

Even if they're on 0 points, you should go ahead and make it -20 points as I've found the students find that even more amusing than just staying on 0 points.

I have 2 attachments, the first one is the template so that you can add your own questions in, that's all you need to do.

The second attachment is my typhoon powerpoint game I used in class. It was a review game to revise for their test next week and hopefully it'll give you a good idea as to how I played it out.

Yea, that's very nice.

I'm wondering... where did you find the font for the 'Typhoon' word.  It looks really nice and I know Powerpoint 2003 can't produce it.    I'm also wondering how you produced the font for 'Key' and 'Rules' word.

I use Powerpoint 2007 on my laptop, so I have to make all my powerpoints in compatibility mode as the computer in the English classroom uses Powerpoint 2003. That's why I'm able to use really nice fonts, but I'm unable to edit them on the English classroom computer.

If you guys have made any modifications in the typhoon game, or even made a new game with the template, please post them up on this thread like I did too! It would benefit a lot of people (like me) who are out of ideas for new topics etc....

Here is the template using personality traits. You will have to change some of the questions as I also included a lesson of mine on brands. But I didn'y do any other modifications- the template is great, thanks!

hey did anyone notice that the main screen in the game with all the numbered blocks does that cool optical illusion where you see black dots in all the corners of your peripheral view?

Just did a optical illusion lesson so thats pretty sweet

Just updated this for my intro lesson tomorrow. Just used simple questions to get the students talking about themselves.

I learned Tyhpoon game from my co-teacher. I used just blackboard and post-it. On the board I wrote some words and the letter 'typhoon'. And then coverd them with post-it. Because I don't have my own classroom, it took a time to wirte sth on the board whenever I go to the classroom. So, your ppt game will be very helpful for me. Thank you very much!!! :)
