I made a guessing bomb game for this lesson using Jennifer Yong's Super Mario Blast Template, but personally I tweak the rules a little; instead of all enemies loosing half their points, the team in question can steal 3 points from another team.

The students are presented with a picture, for example a dog, with the caption "Do you like dogs?". The students have to guess what the correct answer is going to be, i.e. "Yes, I do."/"No, I don't". Alternatively some slides only have a picture and a question mark. This means that they have to formulate a question, e.g. "Do you like kimchi?"

Yeah... if they guess wrong they don't get the points. It's kind of random, but Korean students are well versed in the concept of "prediction". I usually tell them to use their X-Men powers to guess; that gets them all worked up. With other bomb games if the group in question guesses incorrectly, I give other volunteers a chance, but obviously that won't work here, as there are only one of 2 options. But shake it up in terms of the 'icons', i.e. the various mario characters. For example, let the grenade bomb mean they loose all their points, the bullet - another group loose their points, the Venus fly trap - steal 2 points from each group, the ghost - switch points with a group, the brown mushroom manthingy - switch 2 other groups' points, the beast  - steal 5 points from any group, etc.

Oh, and let them play it twice, they'll beg you for it. Then it becomes more of a memory game and they really nail the target language, and it will take up 30 minutes  as opposed to just 15.

thanks for posting, i've just started teaching and was looking for some new activities to use besides the book. im excited to use this!

I made this Hidden Picture activity for my high level grade 3s.  Teams can score one point for guessing, loose one point for guessing the wrong animal and can pass if they're not sure.

I am showing this video titled "Do you like waffles?" to my grade 3 class today. It's really catchy!

Update: I just showed it to my grade 3 class and it was a hit. They watched it 3 times (it's really short). Then they noticed the related videos (Spongebob, Sonic, etc.)They started requesting those videos. Since I knewthey were videos of Spongebob and Sonic lip syncing to the "Do you like waffles" song, I let them watch it. (Of course, before I played the video i said "DO YOU LIKE SONIC?? YESS!! DO YOU LIEK SPONGEBOB? YES!!! ) THey thought it was hilarious and were singing along. The phrase "do you like _____" , and "yes, I like _____" has been forever embedded into their little heads.

PS. Waffles, french toast, and pancakes (words in the song) is apparently exactly the same in Korean so the kids know the words and understood it completely!

so here are the activities that we did for lesson 1 and 2.

At the end of lesson 1 we reviewed some animals and the sentences "What is it?", "It's an/a _____".
Then we did a 'hidden picture' game (I got the idea from a previous, Thank you).
- Ts write the number 4-1 on the board
- First team choose a number on the slide, if they can guess the picture on the first try they get 4 points, if not it goes to the next team to choose a square and to guess the picture.
- The more guesses it takes the less points available.
For this activity the target language is "I like ...../ I don't like ....."
T's will need to go through the ppt before hand to know what the pictures are ...

At the end of lesson 2 we played a human bomb game:
- Class room is divided into 2 parts (left and right) and each Ts stands at either side of the class room while the Ss stand in the middle.
- Each Ts has a various amount of paper scores ranging from 1-3 and including some bombs.
- Ss are instructed that a Ts  (lets say Ts on the let goes first) will say a sentence such as “ I like cats”
- Ss then need to choose if they agree or disagree with that Ts. If they agree they run to the left side of the room saying “me too!”. If not they run to the right side of the class saying “ I don’t like cats”
- Once the Ts say stop Ss need to stand still and Ts will reveal a score. If the right side has a score of 3 every Ss on the right will win 3 point for their team.
- If the left side is 1 point, every Ss on the left side will win 1 point towards their team
- Bomb is minus 1 for each Ss towards their team. Thus if there are 4 Ss from team A on the side of the bomb, then team A looses 4 points.
