Grade 4 Lesson 11 How Much Is It?
« on: September 16, 2010, 12:02:21 pm »
I'm already on Lesson 11, but it looks like I'm the first ... there aren't any materials up yet. So I looked around and found a Price Is Right game for 6th grade (thank you to the poster!) and was able to simplify it for my 4th graders.

My students weren't able to say the big numbers in English, so I had them write their guesses on the board.

Hope this is helpful!

Anyone have any good/funny clips for this lesson?  I have only been able to find a couple and they are kind of a stretch.

The lyrics can be handed out and then collected at the end of the period.  The video clip is used to provide encouragement; after passing out the lyrics, a student is chosen and asked if he or she can sing the song . . . no is the customary reply.  "Is it easy or hard?"  A:  It's hard.  "I think you will find it easy.  Let's watch".  There are several version of the song on youtube with the lyrics on screen as well.

I put together a powerpoint about currency in English speaking countries as a supplemental section of my last class for lesson 11. I borrowed some slides from other powerpoints on Waygook.org. Thanks guys!

Hey,
Here is a version of the Mario bomb game for this lesson if any of you want it. I have tried to keep the sentences consistent with the previous lesson so alter what ever you deem necessary.

Here is a practice PPT.  The first section is self-explanatory.  For the second section, the teacher must point to an item on the PP slide so the students know what to say.  For example, if you point to the bat, the boys would say, "I want a bat."

There is so much great material on this site, it is a godsend.  Just wanted to let you know about a link which is great for making your own puzzles.  If your class were learning a specific theme or lesson then it could be really useful so enjoy....
