Sorry as well. Thanks for uploading and sharing your work. I wasn't prepared for this lesson after coming back from break but you came to the rescue. I really like your creativity on the simpsons game but it is a little confusing. Could you explain a little. Thanks.

Hi guys,

So my teacher wants to teach very much "by the book," so I'm limited to making presentations that fall exactly or close to the guidelines laid out in the textbook.  Initially, I thought it would be a cool idea to make a couple worksheets; one which had 4 pictures and one which had 4 dialogues matching the pictures.  Then, I'd mix up the orders, so when students tried to find a partner (the goal is to match dialogues to photos), they'd need to search a bit to the find a student with the same corresponding order.  While they searched, they would have to read out the dialogues, and I was going to give prizes to the winner.

Unfortunately, my teacher vetoed this idea because she wanted to save paper.  She told me to make a powerpoint instead and just read it to the students.  I don't expect it to be engaging.

I guess this is all just a big disclaimer that I don't know that you'll find these exercises to be useful if you have some creative liberty in your classroom.  But if your teacher is by the book, maybe you can use this.  I've uploaded the worksheet and powerpoint.  But be forewarned, they aren't flashy at all.

Thanks. for lesson 9. 'I'm sorry, That's okay' those expressions are good to teach for kids. coz they are going to learn how to say and answer(reply) in that siuation. in cars of me, im using balls. with two balls, throwing kid says "i'm sorry", catching kid answers "that's okay". but it happens with two balls at the same time, so kids should be tense. it's easy to be massed up, so before this game, you need to give a warning like "without the ball, you cannot say anything."
2nd semester~ gogo you all!

I made an ABC words ppt for using with the writing units from the book for this semester.  I included words from the book and from a phonics song from youtube they learned last semester (link below).  We learned the song in small chunks and the kids would all groan when I stopped the song because they wanted to know the next word SO badly - it was funny making them wait until the next class to find out!

I had my students play Ding Ding Ding game.  Teacher will write six phrases from the lesson on the board.  "Watch out!" "Look out!" "I'm sorry." "Are you okay?" "Yes, I'm okay." "Sure, I'm okay." Each group will take a turn saying the sentences in a row, one student at a time, and the group with the fastest time wins.

Here's a PPT I made to introduce I'm sorry. I also added some other scenarios like, "excuse me". Its not really a game, but introduces the target language and gets them answering question. The kids liked it.

Rant time: So this is my second time round on this and I've drawn a few conclusions. My school is failing the kids when it comes to reading and writing. There just isn't any time to teach it to the kids and the result is the kids that don't go to hagwon have shag all phonic skills, like this chapter is their intro to phonics, 7 letters over two classes and all introduced in one class is a joke and the book is a joke, this year I've been trying to incorporate phonics a little throughout the year, I use a proper phonics book and photocopy the pages for the kids, also I use http://www.starfall.com/ and my own alphabet PPT, it's attached. Rant over.

Here's a review game for lesson 1-8. I am playing this instead of starting classes as school is cancelled tomorrow so I don't have all my 3rd grade kids this week.
