Months
« on: September 04, 2011, 10:19:17 AM »
Back in America, I used to have the kids sing the months of the year while dancing to the "Macarena."  They loved it, and it helped them learn the months.  Hmm...I haven't tried it in my Korean class yet, but I'll see.  Just wanted to share that if anyone wanted to try.

A good way to learn the months of the year and to assist with the memorization is through natural ways such as music. A good song to use for the months is Peter Weatherall, months. Go to youtube and type in Peter Weatherall, months.....It should be the first song or video and the length is apx. 2:48.

I wrote on a piece of paper, big enough to be seen by everyone in class and pasted it on the wall , just  below the white-board. I also gave them crosswords and wordsearches so they would be able to recall and know the pattern from 1-12. It did the job for me. They were not very much interested in the music thing. They wanted to write and learn, i guess.

Great ideas. I haven't yet, but am going to try and play my guitar to the song. It's very true that the kids retain more of this type of information through music and the repetition of it.

Here is a months of the year scramble sheet I made. The hint I gave my students is the capital letter is always the first letter of the month.

Months of the year worksheet/ very easy
« Reply #7 on: June 21, 2012, 01:27:54 PM »
Here is a months of the year worksheet.

It is very easy... just cut and paste the months of the year into the correct place. I had a little trouble with the columns on word.

Students also draw a picture of the their favorite month and write about it.

*very low level english.
